I should probably find some people to flail at about these! Though as I tend not to like talking about a story before I've at least written the first draft, it might be a bit hard.

I get that, too. I'm usually pretty black-box-y about my stories, but I keep writing myself into corners (or empty parking lots) lately, and there are a couple of people I trust to help out without imposing too much on the story, if that makes sense. :-)
