Write Every Day: Day #6

December 6th, which happens to be the Finnish Independence Day. I'm not a very patriotic person, though of course I appreciate living here, because most things are pretty good in this country. But I don't really get patriotism. Anyway, Finnish ways of celebrating independence are mostly not very exciting. The main thing shared by the nation goes as follows: the President invites 2000 people into his palace, a sort of festive ball (not that you can do much dancing with how crowded it gets there), and the rest of the country watches on TV while the President shakes hands with them all. People in front of their TVs comment on who have the best and worst dresses, who stepped on their wife's train, and who came with whom. That's pretty much it. Well, there's nice background music, and the palace is pretty.

Yeah, December is probably not the best possible time for a national day in a climate like this.

Nevertheless, I am watching it. Not sure why, but somehow I do. Got to admit I'm tempted to read smutfic at the same time, just for statement's sake. On the other hand, Mum's on the sofa with me.

Anyway. We made gingerbread biscuits today. They're good. Onto Write Every Day.

Today's writing

Decided I need to leave the Yuletide story alone for a day. I just ended up scribbling a bit on the novel-in-planning: a bit of trying out scenes (not very good), a bit of general planning (more useful). I wanted to do more, maybe fic, but it feels like much isn't moving in my head today.

How about you all?

It's not special what we do for decorations, just a grown-over-the-years mix of stuff we love, partly also crafted by me and not looking stellar! *g* My mom also makes awesome Christmas biscuits, and I'm decent at it. But my kitchen is a bit improvised and hasn't much horizontal space, and that together with four cats is a bit daunting for such tasks; I haven't done much or anything at all in the previous years. I'll have to now, though, as there isn't much I can buy in stores that tastes half-decent; I'm lactose intolerant and also newly-discovered wheat-intolerant.
