Yeah, I should probably try that, thanks for the suggestion. I thought about it when I originally started reading fics after reading the book series, but at that point I was so new to a fandom that had existed for a few years (I read the whole 3-book novel series in a little over a month this summer, and the first book came out in 2016, I think), that I was like "well, maybe there's a reason and everyone knows it". But the more I look around, the more it seems that other people are bothered by it, too. Maybe there is a reason, but maybe everyone thinks someone else must have raised the matter already.
