I do like to usually keep the same icon for a fairly long time, but for me it does tend to change more often - I think the same default icon is often likely to stay from half a year to year. At some point I start feeling like I've "grown out of" whatever reason made me choose the icon and start feeling I need a change. But I do hope I'll be happy with this one for some time, because it's cute and I feel it suits me.
