Write Every Day: Day #14

Meh. Still tired. I slept a normal amount, I guess, but I kept waking up every hour or so throughout the night, which was damned tiring. Today been incredibly listless and tired, and I've had so much I had to do. Took several hours to find the energy for any of that, so I also haven't got around to my own writing yet. I'm getting nervous about Yuletide; I was really supposed to start the editing today, but since I need to be off soon, I guess that isn't happening. I realised that I'm going to be away for most of Saturday and probably won't have any energy when I get back home, so I'll effectively need to have the story ready to post by Friday evening, and there's so much to do. Argh. I hope tomorrow's better.

On the upside, we've got snow again. Wonder how long it'll last this time. And I got most of my Christmas cards done.

I'll get back to comments in the evening, I hope.

Today's writing

Did an alibi sentence on a fic just now. I'd like to get more done later, but we'll see if I manage. (ETA: Just a tiny bit of notebook scribbling, nothing major. Seeing how late I'm staying up, I guess I could have done writing, but well, I read fic and posted my Fandom Stocking. It made me feel better, though.)

Good luck with the Yuletide edit, and with feeling less tired soon! Sometimes, our body and mind just demands what it needs, no matter how inconvenient it is.... *hugs*
I'm rather satisfied today: even with Christmas baking and choir rehearsal, I wrote nearly 1000 words on the Darkover drawer fic, and am getting finally somewhere with it. *g* (I haven't sung in a choir for about twenty years but joined our local parish district choir for the Christmas Oratorio a few weeks back. I'm also singing tenor for the first time, and need to additionally rehearse each day to get back into singing and the hang of singing a different voice. It's awesome to sing again, but currently a bit time-consuming.)

Edit to ask: is it all right to link to the challenge from my own journal? I talked about it in my last entry, and there's somebody with possible interest. And if yes, where to? The first post here in your journal, or is there another one that should be used? Come to think of, I might not be aware of it myself. :)

Thank you! *hugs back* Yeah, it's sinking in I've had a really tough year all put together, so it's no wonder that now that things have let up, it's demanding its toll and my mind and body are all "no, we're not doing anything except eating chocolate and reading sappy & smutty fic". At least I'm finally feeling better after a well-slept night. :-)

That sounds like a very nice amount of writing, yes! And even with all the other things you needed to do. Oh, I used to sing in a choir for years, too. I miss it; I'd like to start again, but it's a bit of a trial to find the right kind of choir: not too difficult, not too easy, singing music that I like, actually need someone like me, etc. I'm a somewhat-but-not-much-trained soprano who can't control her upper range enough to sing first soprano, and many choirs are abundant in that type, I'm afraid. *g*

I went to singing lessons at one point, but they're expensive and it started feeling a bit pointless when I'm not doing much anything with what I learn; so at the moment I just randomly sing showtunes/Disney songs/British folk songs/anything I happen to know when the mood strikes me. Or sing along to my Hayley Westenra songs or John Barrowman's musical songs or various renditions of Let It Go, and really hope that it doesn't carry over to my neighbours much. :-) (Especially the Hayley Westenra. I might have something close to her range if I could really use my voice well, but well, I can't, so...)

Oh yes, feel free to link to this! New participants are always welcome. The newest post is probably the place to start commenting, but if they want to know more, the first post of the month explains more. Also, I think I neglected to link to it, but [livejournal.com profile] trobadora wrote this post in the beginning of the year which also explains more of the what and why of the challenge. That's also be worth looking at, since I've only been around a few months and she's been doing it since the beginning.

Great, thank you! Also for the link, I hadn't seen this myself.

I know so well what you mean about the singing! The choir I now re-joined was my first adult choir, under another choirmaster, and didn't do literature I liked for the longest time. Sadly, the current choir-master hasn't done anything for young singers, so only rarely new people joined, and the whole choir grew older and older, and lost more and more of the former proficiency. They don't have the level by far you'd expect of a church district choir hereabouts, and the average age is 65, I think. I didn't join for the longest time because they didn't to pieces I was interested in. But next year, also the last of the current choir-master, it's the Carmina Burana which is the piece I've desired the most ever to sing; and I joined now because I haven't sung for so many years. I thought at first I would find it hard to not mind the lessened proficiency level, particularly since I've sung at several ambitious choirs since; but to my surprise, just the singing at all, the being part of that harmonious structure, is so awesome that I don't want to miss it ever again, as long as I'm able to. It gives me so much joy and relaxation, so much energy and strength, and I really needed that.
