Write Every Day, June Day #13

I slept in something crazy today - I don't have to be anywhere, seeing as I'm not working at the moment, but it did rather throw off my schedules and made me not very productive at all today.

Anyway, I'm just leaving this here quickly in the hope that I have time to watch another episode of Good Omens before I'm too sleepy and have to go to bed.

Today's Writing

I started drawing timelines on paper, to create both the main history timeline and separate timelines for each of my protagonists, but I didn't get terribly far. Still, it'll hopefully be useful while I figure out a more efficient way to do timelines.

I wrote more character notes for supporting characters. More of them are coming alive and giving me ideas, I love it! I also feel I really shouldn't hold back the writing itself for much longer, because there's so much I still find out only when I'm writing the first draft (or the second, third etc.).

I also wrote down ideas for fics for the Cottoncandy Bingo, but I didn't get to actually writing any fic.

Yay for your novel planning/drafting going along! I find it very exciting to read about it, and to kind of follow you a bit how you're going about the planning, technic-wise. I've never been very organised in this regard, insofar as I didn't think about what I'd need to plan, just made lists and notes and stuff when the items on them came along during the writing (I hope that makes any kind of sense?). Like, I only went out and made a decent mind-map when I was stuck with something. On the other hand, I feel I'm generally a bit at a stalling point in my writing right now, and organising my content in a better way might just be what I need to get over the small hurdles I've encountered here and there. I've become good in organising my files, notes, research info and such, but I kind of put my head into the sand regarding also the inner organisation. Realising this is also kind of embarrassing as I'd have sworn I was doing this all the time, but I just thought I did. *g*
My tally: 116 new words plus the usual one or two hours of editing.

I'm still figuring out just how I do my planning and drafting - I know I can't get super-organized like having every scene outlined, because I just find out so much only when I'm writing. But at the same time, I'm much more likely to go on and turn out something I like when, with longer works, I have some planning done. I've been thinking of writing a bit more about this process, so I may do it some day. :-)
