auroracloud: a silhouette of a young woman with old-fashioned updo, writing, with handwriting across the silhouette (writing / silhouette)

When I've posted this, I'm going to finally start watching Good Omens. I feel I'm so behind, but then again, this is me. The same person who discovered Doctor Who in 2015 and well, you've all seen the results.

I took today very easy, so I'm better now - though I took it easier than I meant to, as I've been weirdly dizzy and weak most of the day. I'm not sure what it is, but at least it's better now than it was earlier, so it's probably going to pass. It can't be heat, because the temperatures are back to reasonable levels.

I've lately been listening to the back episodes of a writing podcast called Write Brain, which deals with the psychology, thoughts and emotions of writing, rather than the craft itself. It's really interesting, the host uses her own experiences as (I assume) very honest examples, and the episodes are nicely bite-sized, with about 15-25 minutes for most of them, so it doesn't take a lot of commitment to listen to one.

I was going to ramble a bit about the topic of the latest one I listened to, but since I'm still not quite well, I'd better leave that for another day. Still, thought I'd drop the link to it here in the case any of you want to give it a listen.

Today's Writing

I did some research reading, and I wrote several hundreds of words of character notes for a side character. I noticed I felt uncomfortable about the storyline I've been thinking about related to that character, but I'm not sure if the discomfort is because it's the kind of thing the story needs exactly because of the reasons I don't like it, or if the discomfort means I shouldn't go that way. I suppose that'll become clear in time - at least writing the notes made me think about this more.

Later I also went through some of my unfinished or first-draft fanfics, and started polishing one of them, adding a bit over 100 new words in the process.

Sorry to hear about the dizziness!

I wrote about 675 words - the fic has an ending now but there's still a gap in the middle, so hopefully I can sort that out tomorrow.

It sounds like you were very productive despite feeling ill. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you, hon. *hugs*

I wrote 999 on the H50 fic. Will it ever end? (Do I want it to? *grins*)

[crashing in with my check in for days 10 and 11 ]

[day 10 was just another day of words not happening and quite frankly, an energy crash and a load of sleep. got some notes and some prose, but only 300 of prose. week 2 just hasn't been easy so far, i perhaps should have taken an alibi sentence day and stopped trying to force words out. *shrug* will bear that in mind for next time ]

[for day 11, i cancelled my social stuff, spent 5 hours on art and did some more of that sleeping stuff around cooking and refuelling. then sat down for writing hour, and got the 1k words out. currently having a sherbet lollipop to celebrate ]

I did some canon review and have some decisions to make I have the option of 4 prompts in my sign-up and I find all of them great. So which one to go with??

Overall I went over some mods posts and wrote about 500 words.

Hope you feel better soon!

12th: About 1800 words of a new ficlet... I wasn't quite expecting that! (It's a missing scene/expansion of a canon scene, so it's not exactly ground-breaking, but apparently I have a lot to say!)

I finished up a prompt fill and wasn't sure how to post it, and also got some encouragement from another to post the thing and put all of those posts elsewhere for another audience to enjoy. Which still trips some of the deep-seated "but it's not actually good, so why would others want to see it?" brainweasels, even though other things I have done received a significant amount of positive feedback.

I'll get there, but I'll also want to clean up the typographical errors and such, too.

I've given up the attempt to ever be up to date with anything. I never manage, which frustrates me to no end, and also often leaves me way behind, nearly with everything that is fandom-related. But I found out the hard way that I'm incapable of reading as fast, commenting as fast, let alone watching/reading source material as fast as the average fanperson. As far as watching goes, it's a question of sensory overload issues due to my autism; binge watching is totally out of the question for me, and even watching a whole movie or one or two episodes of a series every day results isn't possible for more than four days in a row without a "free" day. Part of me is saddened by this, because I feel I'm inadequate even as a fanperson, and not only with everything in real life. The rest of me struggles along and tries to get my joy out of it all the same, but I'm also never feeling really part of anything due to this, as I'm always the one who isn't up to date, didn't manage this or that and so on.
So I can totally relate to you feeling behind! And I hope you're having a lot of fun with Good Omens. (I've put that on the back-burner for a while, too, as we've just started to continue with GoT, and found we hadn't even finished Season 5 when Siljan lost interested and we stopped watching it on DVD.)

Thank you for the podcast link! It sounds very interesting. I tried the latest episode, but I'm afraid this is one of those which are un-listenable for me. Due to my sensory issues, I can't listen to certain sound qualities, particularly very jarring/squeaky voices and the dull breath and bumping noises you often hear on unedited recordings. Unfortunately, this podcast seems to combine all my sound issues, and I find I can't concentrate on what they're saying due to it. Turning down the volume doesn't help as it then gets too low... Perhaps I'll download an episode and try if it's getting better with a simple editing as soon as I'm trough with reinstalling my desktop.

For my tally: Monday (the 10th) was a great writing day for me; I wrote a long blog entry, wrote new scenes for the edit of the joint story project, and wrote over 1k for the joint story project at our weekly session in the evening, which adds up to 2,8k, plus over an hour of editing for the joint story project as well. On the other hand, yesterday (11th) only brought me about 35 new words written on my phone, although I managed another hour of editing later on.

Yesterday I wrote a 500 word dreamwidth post, and today, 500 words more of tentacle porn. (Which I am really enjoying! But it's not as porny as it was at the start of the fic.)

I hope you enjoy Good Omens!

I got 1200 words of brainstorming. Lot of catching up to do (word wise, and I haven't seen GO either). Will probably fall further behind though.

It seems like you're doing really well (research AND thinking AND editing), even while things are less than ideal right now. ♥
