I think I ship Eleven/Rory. Is that wrong? Of course it's not wrong. It's great.

Amy/Rory/Eleven would be rather attractive as well, of course.

On a different note, The Girl Who Waited was heartbreaking and I'm not over it yet.

I am post about Doctor Who things in absolutely no order whatsoever, but I just wanted to say: in addition to following the new S10, I also continue to watch Eleventh Doctor's adventures, now going on S6, and I just watched The Doctor's Wife. Holy damn that was amazing. Played with my head nicely and was both fun and touching. I guess that's something you can expect when you combine Gaiman with Doctor Who! And I think I ship the Doctor/TARDIS quite hard.

(Which, me being me, means that about a minute later I started thinking about the possibilities of Doctor/TARDIS/Jack. Maybe I should write it.)

But I'd basically like to watch it all over again right now. Except that I'm tired. How do people manage to party on Friday nights? All I ever want to do then is go home, watch some Doctor Who and go to bed at ten so that I can sleeeeeeeeeep all I want.

Mmm, I need to comment on S10 some time soon, too. Still loving it.

By the way, is it bad that when watching Eleventh Doctor episodes, I'm constantly thinking about "okay, so how am I going to use this later to write Eleven/Jack fiction?"

No, I don't think it's bad at all.

I just want to say that Vincent and the Doctor is one of the best Doctor Who episodes I've seen, and unquestionably one of the most moving emotional ones. The way they handled the character and life of Vincent Van Gogh, the way they handed depression, mental illness, fragility and creativity and beauty of the world, was something unbelievably touching. It got into some really powerful place in me and did something so right.

Also, I thought it made the story even more powerful that the monster mostly couldn't be seen. And not only because of not needing to worry about bad CGI, but also because there was something really moving about that in itself. And I suppose it makes it even more powerful in handling the mental illness/depression, and on the other hand the ability of art to make you see more things in the world, that really were the themes of the episode.

And one of the final comments of the Doctor - that life is a pile of good stuff and bad stuff, and the good stuff doesn't always soften the bad but the bad stuff also doesn't spoil the good - that was something a lot of us need to hear. I definitely needed it now. (Not getting deeper into that because public post.)

The Eleventh Doctor is one of the best antidepressants I've come across.

Can't do more detailed commentary now, not quite done crying. But it's a good sort of crying, mostly.

Also, loved the sunflowers.

I'm too tired to make a proper post, but I just wanted to say that I love the Eleventh Doctor. Love love love him.

And Amy. And Rory, too. Also, I want to make Amy's scarf from The Vampires of Venice, but that's going to be way beyond my knitting skills for quite a while yet, even if I actually start practicing like I've meant to. I mean, I haven't even got around to successfully knitting leg warmers yet. But maybe knitting a lace scarf would be easier? My craft skills are kind of weird like that, it might help as long as I only need to handle two needles. I can crochet lace things just fine, but I have a feeling that one's going to be better if you knit it.

Yeah, I'd like to say more about S5 than just start talking about knitting, but well, it's late.

But it's a pity that from what I know, Jack and Eleven never meet on screen, because it would be grand. And fun. And lots of cheekiness all around.

I just want to say that I'm super-excited about the latest news about the new Doctor Who companion.

Cut for spoilers, though it's all over and hard to miss )

This definitely seals it; I'm so going to watch the new series as it airs, never mind that I'm several seasons behind. I already watched the Christmas special and I know roughly what happened in the end of the last season, so I don't think it'll be too hard to figure out what's going on. And I just checked when we're going to get it in Finland, and guess what? Like with the Christmas special, we're getting Series 10 only one day later than the UK! So brilliant! I can watch it pretty much in real time!

I've just started watching S5, by the way. I still need to finish my write-up on my many thoughts on S4 (not to mention write my Torchwood S2 post!) but I decided to just skip the specials because I just didn't like them much at all (except for the Wilfred bits, and some of the Master stuff). Also, Journey's End has the unfortunate effect of making me kind of hate Ten, and considering I do generally love him, I didn't want to add to that by all the purposeless angst-wallowing that the Specials are.

So straight onto Eleven it was, and oh, so far I'm totally liking both him and Amy. The Eleventh Hour was a bit full of things and had pacing problems, but I really enjoyed it as an introduction to the characters, and the amount of backstory Amy gets there makes it easy to relate to her and see what's going on with her. And I thought The Beast Below was magnificent. Liz 10 was a lovely character, too, and Amy totally has my heart now, if there was a part she didn't have by the end of The Eleventh Hour. I'm still getting used to how young Eleven looks, but it's interesting to observe him, and there's something deliciously explosively adventurous in his and Amy's dynamic so far. I'm pretty sure I will have watched S5 at least by the time S10 starts, so that's something.

Anyway, being so excited about this - both Bill and S5 - is fun! I've been all sorts of exhausted by RL lately, and not feeling great, so feeling excitement is delightful.
