Write Every Day, August Day #4

Not much remarkable going on. Except that I got a much-needed massage, and somehow I got stuck watching sports on TV, which I normally never do. And I'm enjoying Heather Rose Jones's The Daughter of Mystery quite much.

Writing

I've been trying to finishing the edits to my Torchwood fic, having some trouble getting over that "hate everything I've written" phase again. But I'm getting there, and have done something about pretty much all of my very useful beta notes. I recently had some wine, so I might see if the inhibition-loosening effects of that will help at all with finishing things. Though probably I still have to leave a few things to be fixed tomorrow.

I also added something like two sentences to the fic I was writing a lot yesterday.

I wrote just under 700 words on that Tony/Steve fic I haven’t gotten around to naming. Apparently, it’s going to be written, however, so I suppose I’ll have to come up with a pithy title.

Looks very much like it is being written! :-D Good luck at naming! I hopelessly suck at that. I think none of the stories I've published so far have anything but a "let's slap something on this so I can post it" sort of title. Well, except last year's Yuletide story. That one actually had a title pretty early on.

And heh, awkward smut-writing when having company - I hear you, I've been trying to make the smutty bits of a Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones story more sensual while my mother's around. IT IS NOT EASY.

Aww, I know the "I hate my writing" phase too well. It's been on me too often lately. Don't listen to yourself. We're always our harshest critics.

Thank you. I've been quite hopeless towards myself lately - without deadlines I surely wouldn't get anything posted... Now just to finish editing this damn thing (I'm replying to comments in the hope of avoiding editing).

Thank you. :-) That's always good to remember. I also remember a post from Neil Gaiman years and years ago how he always hits this phase while writing a new book. That is comforting to remember, that the pros get it just as bad as the rest of us, no matter how long they've been at it.
