Sorry for the delay in replying! Anyway, Good Omens is indeed lovely. It just fills me with happiness and love and Aziraphale and Crowley pining for each other for six millennia. It's just so cute.
I've read the book several times and loved it, but it's been a long time since the last read. There are parts especially in the first half that aren't all that exciting, but I feel it gets much better when the Armageddon starts. The series had a more balanced plotting, or maybe by balanced plotting I mean more Aziraphale and Crowley dysfunctionally adoring each other. And yes, those two character interpretations bounce off each other beautifully.
I can't usually do mundane AUs, I tend to prefer canon universe or fork-in-the-road AUs, both as a reader and as a writer. Though there are exceptions. But there are readers for various kinds of fic. I do feel I'll probably be eventually pulled into the fic-writing rabbit hole, too...
