auroracloud: (we're all stories in the end)

Dear Public Call Writer,

I didn't manage to fit the character/era-specific prompts into the sign-up, so I'm posting them here. I also include my general likes and Do Not Wants from the sign-up, just in case. Please don't be discouraged if I seem to have more prompts or things to say about another era/relationship than the one you matched on - I assure you I'm equally interested in all that I requested, otherwise I wouldn't have requested them. I've got so much more on the Second Doctor era because there are so many characters and relationships I requested there, so it's hard to be concise yet not leave people out. But all the others interest me as well! And as always, these details and prompts are only meant to help you if you're the sort of writer who works better with more information and prompts. If you prefer to go without them, pay no heed to them, except kindly heed my DNWs!

General Likes:

I'm equally happy with gen, femslash, slash, or het, though I've got some notes further down about cases where I prefer gen or where I am especially fond of a shippy dynamic. I like many kinds of stories, adventure, domestic, fluff, romance, smut, character pieces, worldbuilding-focused stories, etc. I'm more into canon universe than different-universe AUs, though I enjoy canon divergence stories. I like missing scenes/adventures, alternate POVs, pre-canon, post-canon, all those different kind of things!

Here's a non-exhaustive list of things I like, which you can pick something from if it inspires you. Don't feel obliged to use anything.

- Space, stars, astronomy
- Science
- History
- Period details
- Food, cakes and biscuits, tea
- Cooking and baking
- Sensory details
- Books, geekiness
- Humour
- Mild to moderate angst with a happy/comforting/hopeful ending
- Hurt/comfort (stronger on the comfort than the hurt or both equally; I prefer emotional h/c or post-injury)
- Friendship and found/chosen family
- Touching, hugging, clinging, physical comfort, whether platonic or not
- Friends to lovers scenarios where appropriate
- Banter
- Dreams
- letters, epistolary format, diaries, etc.
- Handwriting and fountain pens
- music
- Other arts and culture
- Creative women
- Intelligent women
- Women and science
- Women being competent
- Women supporting one another
- Dancing
- Nature and animals

Do Not Wants:

- graphic violence and gore (beyond canon level)
- non-con
- Underage sex (here understood as under 16)
non-canonical death of requested characters or other important characters

Second Doctor era (Classic Who
Requested relationships:
Second Doctor/Jamie McCrimmon
Second Doctor/Jamie McCrimmon/Victoria Waterfield,
Second Doctor/Zoe Heriot/Jamie McCrimmon,
Zoe Heriot/Isobel Watkins
Zoe Heriot/Jamie McCrimmon
Zoe Heriot/Victoria Waterfield
Ben Jackson/Polly Wright,
Jamie McCrimmon/Victoria Waterfield,

I love this era and its characters and stories very much! I even wrote a manifesto about it: (link) So if you want, you can check that to see more of what I like about it, some works that I've enjoyed, etc. But no pressure!

When it comes to my shipping preferences, the relationships I actually feel shippy about are Two/Jamie, Ben/Polly, Zoe/Isobel, and Zoe/Victoria. I also enjoy Jamie/Victoria if you wish to go for that. But I'm also equally happy for gen relationships in all these cases as well.
I would strongly prefer not to ship Two with Zoe or especially Victoria.

In case of young characters' ages not being known or being different depending on the source, please make them 16 or older if the fic is shippy, regardless of whether there's sex or not. (This especially applies to Victoria, and I don't know if Zoe's given an age at some point in canon or not?)

If you want to go for Season 6B, I'm all for it, or other AUs to the ending of War Games. Also happy with AUs where e.g. Victoria stays aboard the TARDIS after Fury from the Deep, or where Ben and Polly stay after the Faceless Ones, or any of them get picked up again later by the TARDIS crew. Feel free to mix prompts, relationships and whatnot if you feel like. I haven't yet gone through all the missing stories from this era, but I'm working on it, and I know the main gist of them. I have seen all that are out on DVD.

Here are a handful of prompts for this era, mostly copied from last year's sign-up, with a few additions:
- Zoe being scientific and awesome
- Jamie saving the day
- Victoria saving the day
- Ben and Polly joined the TARDIS by accident — do they miss home? Worry about people back there and how they'll get back?
- Ben and Polly almost having a romantic moment or trying to have a date, but getting interrupted by adventures or other people.
- In Two’s era, we had lots of companions from different time periods and cultures, and I’d love any exploration of that. Culture clashes, trying out each other’s foods or clothes or anything, introducing Jamie and/or Victoria to modern technology or how culture and mores have changed since their time, Zoe coping with what she sees as backward times or trying to explain things about her time to people from the past, or how the Doctor explained to Jamie that the Moon is a place you can visit.
- Jamie getting used to travelling with the Doctor; the development of his relationship with the Doctor or with the other companions
- I've got a huge thing for Jamie's steadfast loyalty to the Doctor.
- I've also got a big thing for the Doctor and Jamie's clinginess with each other — both in a shippy or gen manner. And I love Jamie's tactileness with just about everyone in general.
- Visiting eras where the historical companions are in their home turf and know their way around.
- Anything where the Doctor appreciates his companions and relies on them, where they work in a team. The Doctor needing his companions.
- Found family vibes, companionship and friendship among the characters.
- Zoe and the TARDIS library
- Exploring how the companions reacted to some of the pretty unsettling or traumatic stuff they experienced during the story. 60s TV writing may not have been much about character arcs, but doesn’t mean it didn’t happen between the scenes!
- How did Victoria’s concept of what women could do get influenced by seeing different times, and meeting women like Astrid Ferrier and Anne Travers? How did she come around to wearing miniskirts after being used to crinolines?
- AU where Isobel comes along as a companion. How does she fit into the team? How much do she and Zoe heckle Jamie? What happens when she travels to the 21st century and discovers digital cameras?

As I've recently requested Zoe/Isobel and Zoe/Victoria in another challenge, I'm copying those prompts here for you in case you wish to use them. These are specifically with the femslash angle in mind, but feel free to write either as a friendship story or another form of gen as well, adapting a prompt if it inspires you.

Zoe/Isobel:

One of the main f/f ships from Classic Who, and for good reason! They're so cute and fun in Invasion, and they really take into one another right from the start! I love how Isobel makes Zoë relax and find ways to have fun and enjoy frivolous and fun things like cute clothes, miniskirts, and being photographed, while continuing to be the awesome logical maths-and-physics genius. I love the way they're so fearless and adventures, and go off exploring together, whether or not the consequences are good. I would love to see more of that undaunted spirit of them. They're also both smoking hot and even hotter together, and their chemistry is great.

Note: I'm very very pained by the memory wipe of War Games and refuse to believe it's permanent (for either Zoe or Jamie, but we're talking about Zoe now), so if you want to fix that, it's welcome. I'd rather not have the gift work remind me of it if you're not going to fix it, though, because it's painful.

Suggested prompts/topics:
- attractions, crushes, experimentation
- Hot photography sessions
- Cuteness, dating or hotness between the Cybermen adventure and Zoe's departure
- AU where Isobel joins them on the TARDIS
- More adventures!
- Something where Zoe ends up back in London with Isobel, possibly fixing the memory wipe as well.

Zoe Heriot / Victoria Waterfield
I've seen this ship on AO3 a few times, but not enough to explore all the possibilities, and I just can't let go of the idea. On the surface they're very different, but I feel like they'd find a lot of common ground if they knew each other, and after learning to understand where the other is coming from, they could be good friends, and why not more? I could also see each being attracted to the very things that make the other so different. I'd also enjoy some competence kink here - Zoe's obviously very competent with science and maths and general smartness, and it would be fun to see Victoria be head over heels with that, but also it would be fun to see what Victoria has and does that makes Zoe think "OMG that girl!!!" I think Victoria's a lot more competent and sassy than people sometimes give her credit for, she's just sensible enough to also be afraid of danger.

Also, if they're travelling on the TARDIS together, I bet they bond a lot over trying to get the Doctor and Jamie to behave, heh. (I love both Two and Jamie, so while you can have them be fairly ridiculous and get into lots of trouble, because they do, please no bashing.)

Note: I haven't yet seen most of the missing stories from the Second Doctor era — I've watched the existing episodes on the Lost in Time DVD, and watched all stories that exist on DVD either in full or with missing parts reconstructed. I'm working my way towards watching all of Two era with the missing stories as well, but I've no idea how far I'll be into it by the reveals.

This would have to be a canon divergence AU, or some weird follow-up to their canon endings. I'd love to see them both travel on the TARDIS together, deal with the Doctor and Jamie (and keep them in order, as much as it's possible), learn from each other. Would they understand each other right away or take some time to get to appreciate one another?

More suggestions: wearing each other's clothes, appreciating each other's cuteness/hotness. 19th and 21st century values meeting. Discovering feelings. Adventuring together. Saving each other or the Doctor and/or Jamie. Or the world. Geekery and space. Interludes on the TARDIS or in beautiful places. Visiting each other's times. Cuteness. Comfort. Tea and sweets.

New Who:

Bill Potts/Martha Jones

I love both of these characters dearly, and I've loved the idea of this pairing ever since Bill's Doctor Who season was on. I feel like they'd like each other and be good for each other, plus yay for female companions of colour and especially yay if we could have the two of them interact.

Some prompts: How would Bill and Martha meet? During their respective adventures with their respective Doctors, with timelines intersecting and possibly causing havoc? In their proper timelines, with Martha older than she is in canon? Maybe Twelve needs her assistance in something or just goes to visit an old friend with Bill in tow. Maybe post-canon Martha will help Bill at getting over some of the bad stuff she’s experienced. Maybe they adventure together in places where pale-skinned people would be looked at weirdly but they fit right in. Maybe they swap stories about the weirdness of time travel and the Doctor. If you want to give them a sweeping romance and/or hot snuggles, I'm all for it!

Bill Potts and Twelfth Doctor

I very much hope you agree this should be gen! Otherwise, I'm down for anything you can think of with these two, because I really loved their dynamic together, and feel like Season 10 Twelve is the pinnacle of Twelve-ness for me and he and Bill are just perfect together. I'd love more of their lessons together, or missing adventures, or Twelve stealing off with Bill to somewhere in time and space on the pretext of teaching her something about history or science. But also fun domestic, slice-of-life moments — I love them hanging out, and Twelve wanting to insert himself into Bill's life. Also I feel like the TV series could have followed up more on Bill's mum. Fix-its to Bill's ending are also greatly appreciated.

Multi-Era:

Martha Jones/Nyssa of Traken

Smart underappreciated science-y companions unite across time! Maybe Martha could somehow arrive to Terminus (either in her travels with the Doctor or some other way) and help Nyssa with the situation and then take her out of there. Or maybe she could intervene with the events during the TV story Terminus, maybe help keep things from getting so bad. Or maybe their paths cross earlier in Nyssa's adventures with the Doctor, or much after Nyssa's canon, when she's got Terminus behind her and somehow ends up in Martha's path. Which parts of Martha's story might she influence? I feel there's so many ways you can go with these two! And if you want to write femslash, I'm all for it, but gen with these two would be equally interesting.
