Yeah, I don't think it was particularly realistic. On the other hand I'm sometimes happy to just not have to be confronted with racism and sexism all the time. It's also good for those of us who belong in systematically oppressed groups to just have adventures (I'm white, so racism is obviously not my experience, but being female gives me a stake in depiction of sexism). It's complicated because sometimes it's also nice to have stories for marginalized groups that aren't about the marginalization. Both approaches have their uses. But it would definitely have been more honest to at least discuss the fact that Gilded Age US (and late 19th century in general) had lots of issues, even if they weren't going to be the focus of this adventure. And I would be curious to see POC fans say how they feel about Yaz and Ryan in this story and them not facing any racism when in reality they surely would have.
