2.5k later I have not only finished off my other rare pair fic but also totally re-written my first approach to the other. Um. Oops? but done and before deadline and surprisingly more polished than the first approach despite speed (though I'll definitely have to be proofing and editing before reveals too now) so I guess sometimes ideas just want to be made...
