Yes, character sheets are really nice. Especially for supporting cast, so the name of the MCs cousin isn't something different every time they're on the page. Though of course it's also useful to have them for the main characters, because like you said, it helps explore them (and then their eye colour and home town and whatnot are more likely to stay the same throughout the piece).
