Yeah, I guess that's the part that surprised me. The cliche is that fans are weird and kinky and into disturbing stuff and "normal" people have very vanilla interests. Yet fans will actually ask you about your squicks before recommending something and I had a neighbor recommend a book that I had to stop reading because it was full of torture just a few chapters in.
