Write Every Day: Day #9

Today's writing
I finished Yuletide! That is, the first draft. It still needs to be edited like whoah, and I hope I can cut down a good bit of it because it measures almost 7K at the moment and that's too much. But the first draft is done! The beginning of today was crappy, and I didn't even try to write, but in the afternoon I slept and felt much better, and after dinner and a bit of reading I just sat in front of the computer and tap-tap-tapped away until it was done. About 1600 words at one go. It was so nice to have a good writing day for a change.
Good luck for you all with your writing!

Date: 2016-12-09 08:38 pm (UTC)I had a pretty bad day yesterday - went to the doctor because of a stubborn cough that wouldn't go away; got meds; got knocked over so badly by the meds that I wasn't fit for anything the entire rest of the day. I just about remembered to scribble down an alibi sentence, at least.
Today, I tried a lower dose and it didn't knock me over quite as badly, so I actually got a bit of writing done after all. But still, ugh.

Date: 2016-12-10 07:23 pm (UTC)Ugh, that sounds really unpleasant situation! I hope your cough gets better without you needing to be knocked over by such meds, that sounds quite awful. Glad you were able to get a bit of writing done despite it.

Date: 2016-12-11 02:44 pm (UTC)I see! My stories always grow in the editing - I may remove a lot of stuff, but I add more.

Date: 2016-12-10 07:31 pm (UTC)Sometimes you need a bit of time to think your writing through. :-) Well, at least you know what's fun about parties, then. I only like the sort of parties I and my friends have, which mean tea and food and chatting about geeky things. My experience of the more normal parties is "too many people, too much noise, and why isn't there more music you can actually dance to, and everyone expects me to be getting drunk and thinks I'm somehow flawed for not doing so, and to be honest being drunk would probably be the only way to tolerate them when they're drunk, and I think I'll go home and read something now".

Date: 2016-12-10 11:11 am (UTC)Another busy day for me, although at home choir rehearsal and going to the cinema wasn't what hindered the writing, but not feeling up to it, I'm a bit sick.
I tried to work on my Maglor WIP again, to overcome that passage where I'm stuck since three days. I managed to squeeze out 250 words, but this went NaNo-fashion: needs to be completely rewritten or deleted later on, but necessary to overcome a stubborn block in the story. But I think I'm over it, so I'm satisfied.

Date: 2016-12-10 07:33 pm (UTC)Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit sick. Hope you get better soon! And yeah, sometimes you just need to write through something so you can get ahead, no matter if you can write it right or well at that point. It'll probably come to you later, or you'll find out it's better than you think (sometimes that happens, too!).
