Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, friends and subscribers and anyone else who happens to read this! I'm already in 2020, and I'm sure those of you who aren't here yet will get here just fine. I'm just back from a get-together with friends, and I've had too much sugar! And rather too much tea! And I'm very chipper! And very awake! I haven't had any alcohol despite what it may seem! But I've really had very much sugar!
I should probably get some chamomile tea and read something queer to start the decade right, before I head to bed. I think I'll do just that. Take care, my dears, and may you enjoy your New Year celebrations if you have any and they aren't over yet! *blows kisses*
PS. Does anyone else feel that 2020 sounds like a very science-fiction year, not like it's now but somewhere in the future? Though I guess we'll get used to it.

Date: 2020-01-01 11:09 am (UTC)I've heard a lot of recs for Witchmark, and I'd love to read sci-fi based on that era, but when I tried it, it felt a bit too dark for me. (I have mental beasties that make it a bit hard to deal with wartime environments and other really dark stuff - it's a bit complicated what sets them off and what doesn't, because I also have some rather dark things I totally love, but anyway.) I'm thinking I'll give it a new try in a year or two, when I'll probably feel more up for it, because it seemed super interesting and well-written. Glad you enjoyed it, anyway! It sounds like the kind of book that deserves appreciative readers. :-)

Date: 2020-01-01 01:54 pm (UTC)I've read the other day that it's never been (or couldn't be?) proven that sugar intake causes hyperactivity or whatnot, and I wonder if it's got similar roots like some people being fully convinced they'd never sleep _at all_ if they drink coffee after 3 p.m. Like my late paternal grandmother, or my mother-in-law, who now drinks green tea instead, preferably Mate, which affects her (difficult) sleep not at all, though coffee does, even if it's just a regular cup of coffee with milk at 4 p.m. and she goes to bed at 10 p.m. ;op. Of course other factors are involved, but I'm convinced that sometimes people are affected by something because they believe it to be, and not because it really happens.
I totally think 2020 sounds cool!

Date: 2020-01-01 10:23 pm (UTC)I wrote the date in my journal today, and it was very weird to put down 2020. Definitely still sounds like a science fiction title.
