auroracloud: kitten looking tired over a handwritten paper, with text "writing is hard work" (writing is hard work kitten)
[personal profile] auroracloud
Today rather got away with me, with various things to do, so this post is again later than I thought it would be and I'm half asleep at the keyboard... So if I write any nonsense or forgot or mistyped someone's name, I apologize, and feel free to notify me about any errors.

I'll try to occasionally include writing-related topics in these posts, but right now I'm too sleepy to come up with any, so on with the post!

If you missed what this is about, please see yesterday's welcome post.

Today's Writing

I got into the writing itself quite late, and then was heavy on resistance, which is why I took so long to get to anything else either. But eventually I did manage to write almost 250 words, so I'm pretty proud of myself, considering how hard the words were in coming. Triumphing over your own internal resistance is satisfying!

Today was damp and chilly, so I only got a half hour in the garden, which meant more time for writing. So...

April 2nd - 1112 words, a 500 word challenge ficlet, then I finished and posted the one I started yesterday, and did some editing on a couple of others. When the weather gets warmer at the weekend, my daily word count will probably be quite a bit lower.

I just wrote a hilarous (at least to me) scene of someone's kilt falling off during a swordfight. : D

I may need formal permission to write the damn exchange fic without so much as glancing at my recipient's letter. Since they linked their letter in their sign-up and it is more than far enough into the writing period that it should have been unlocked by now and it is still not unlocked. (Where if they simply hadn't linked one, I'd probably be done and posted by now.)

It would be nice if I were to start posting where the firelight fades before the first anniversary of starting to write it (that is, May 4, or possibly 3 if I had the create entry page open for at least two hours before clicking post), but if I set any such goal, it will be nearly to if not after that date before I make any more progress on it. And since I realized a couple things about why I've been stalled, I really don't want to stay stalled! (In one point of view, I ended the previous scene wrong, so of course I couldn't start the next one right. Am PMing a beta to discuss how that scene actually ends. In the other point of view, there's a detail I threw in for worldbuilding flavor early on that I could use to bring a key fact to Our Heroes' attention, instead of needing them to unpromptedly realize the connection between three statements earlier in the story. One of which statements they dismissed—with cause! they had no reason to trust the speaker here!—as flat-out lies meant to bait them into a trap.)

Thank you hosting!

Writing has been done in the form of outlining a new story. It's still a few hundred words put down on paper, so I'm calling it a win for the day. Now to start ironing everything out...

Thank you for hosting April! I'm glad to hear writing happens for you, and things are proceeding as expected, considering what's going on. *hugs*
Dang, beginning of a new WED month and I already managed to miss a day... *sigh* But after managing well for the last weeks things caught up with me and gave me a bit of a mental break-down two nights ago, with a massive headache to deal with yesterday. I'm much better now and writing actually helps again, which I'm grateful for.
I've written a lot throughout March, but nearly no fic, as Corona-related changes in my daily routine, a lot of additional work, and general worry and anxiety froze my creativity up. But things are slowly turning into a new normal, and I'm also back at writing fic since a few days, with 134 words yesterday (April 1st) on the next chapter of a published WIP, and an alibi sentence on the same so far today as I'm just sitting down to write.

I've written a couple hundred words of my fic, and spent rather a lot of today gaming (which is why it's only a couple hundred words). Still, I've moved into a new section of juicy dialogue-heavy character interaction that's ripe and ready for tomorrow, when I'll have more time to write. :)

Triumphing over your own internal resistance is very satisfying, indeed! Good job.

Yay beating your own resistance!

You know how I said yesterday that I was about halfway through typing things up? It was closer to 1/3 or 1/4 of the way through. I will possibly be tired tomorrow but I am done my retyping. 3,105 words of it today, at least the actual fic part, plus notes in my three notes files.

Tomorrow is the scary day where I need to write new words. And over the weekend I need to try and merge the newer bits with the original document and do a readthrough again because I'm losing track of what has and hasn't been fixed and how much of the original hole-filled draft I'm keeping.

Day 2 - posted a thing to AO3, SWG and the Back to Middle Earth journal, also wrote a drabble-poem (four stanzas of 25 words each, with a through-rhyme) that I think I should let percolate a tad before posting to fan flashworks.

Yesterday (the 2nd) I didn't do any typing, but I did scribble a few things down in my notebook; a short cuddle-piece and a little poem. Probably barely 100 words in all, but it's something. ^_^

Day 2: worked on the nonfiction thing, part editing, part organizing (where to shoehorn in these iffy bits? etc.), part new annotations.

(And oops, forgot to say in my comment yesterday that I did indeed write on Day 1! Sorry.)

Yay for triumphing over your own resistance!
