I just watched Doctor Who S10 ep 1, and I loved it! I love love love Bill, she's amazing and bright and real and smart and curious and not afraid to ask questions! And I love Twelve, and does he have such a gorgeous office in previous seasons as well or is it just now? The story was lovely and I so look forward to seeing what Bill and the Doctor are going to be like together, especially since for once the sexual/romantic attraction aspect should be ruled out, so it'll be all the other awesome stuff instead about a curious human being introduced to all of Time and Space by an adventurous Time Lord. I'll do a more proper post later on, I hope, but I just wanted to get the first squee out right away. And I don't care how timey-wimey it's going to be to watch this while I'm also watching S5, timey-wimey is fine.

I'm so going to need Bill icons!

Oh god, you are so right about Ten, and the way people can't seem to deal with all the ways he's a complete arse at times. It's total woobie or unforgivable, no nuance, no fun. *sighs*

(And, well, he probably still sees Jack in reality, just might be a few decades or centuries in between...)

Nothing will ever convince me that isn't true!

Yeah, nuances are the fun! I found that on the re-watch of the RTD era, I was the most interested in Ten and his development and all in S3, when he's undeniably the worst towards his companions. (I could go on a long tangent here about how fantastic is that both Martha and Jack have this same arc where they're under-appreciated by him and have their lives turned upside down because of him, and have the strength to walk away to their own lives in the end, yet still love him and are there for him when it counts. And it doesn't make me hate Ten that he's not good enough towards them, it makes me go "oh wow, this is fascinating".)

And in reality, humans are messy and hurt each other when they shouldn't and nothing works out perfect, yet we still muddle along. It's frustrating when people don't appreciate the beauty of that in fiction. Because it can be done beautifully. :-)

And yup, the Doctor and Jack are definitely still meeting in between! Hmm, Bill said the Doctor's been in that school for decades, plenty of time for adventures or for Jack to get a new angle to his office kinks. :D

This, ecactly! And it would be so boring (and he would be so insufferable) if he wasn't an arse sometimes.

Oooh, I like the way you think. :D

Oh yes. The show already sets him up as someone so special who (nearly) always saves the day and knows more than anyone and can travel all across time and space in a phonebox - if he was a perfectly nice person with great social skills, too, it'd be terrible. :-D

Let's just say that a steady diet of Jack Harkness related fanfic (including yours :-P) helps cultivate the right kind of thinking. :-D

Hahaha, yes. And it's also really important that it's only nearly always, because otherwise he's just got a magic get-out-of-consequences-free card, and that would be awful. (I'm still bitter about the 50th anniversary special. You haven't seen that one yet, have you?)

I agree. Sometimes things have to go wrong, because that's life, even for Time Lords, and also you stop being worried if they'll make it, if they always make it.

No, I haven't seen the anniversary special. I've run across some vaguely spoiler-ish things about it, but not enough to get the whole picture. I'll let you know when I get there, and if I don't like it either then we can bitch about it together. :-D

I admit, I'm really interested to see your reaction. Most people had a very different one from mine, but I feel very strongly about it.
