Write Every Day, September Day #5 (and Doctor Who!)

Look, Doctor Who fans! We have an air date! And the title of the first episode!

Now waiting for information on when the episodes will air in Finland. Season 10 aired right the next day, just enough time to get the translation done for the subtitles, I guess. I hope the delay won't be too much bigger this time, either.

I wonder if I should aim to get some of my fics in progress written and finished before S11 airs, so that the new stories won't sweep them out of my head.

Anyway, back to writing things.

Today's Writing

I wrote a few sentences on my almost-finished femslash ficlet, but I couldn't find a nice way to end it, so I'm letting that stew. I went for a short evening walk and got an idea for a fanfic that has actual plot stuff going on rather than just being shippy. Maybe I need to take more walks. It being autumn should help. Anyway, I wrote some 300 words on that when I got home. Might have done more, but I'm tired and my hands hurt tonight because I typed too much at work without wrist warmers. (Not that it's particularly cold there, my wrists just get sore easily and wrist warmers help with that.) But I got it off to a nice start, at least.

A few paragraphs today, and I started sorting through my notes for the Desire series (the one my WIP Big Bang fic is part of). AAAARGH. There's such a muddle of stuff that needs to happen next, and now I have to out that mess of emotional arcs and plot threads all pulling in contradictory directions ...

Oh, good luck with your series! Sounds like a lot of work, but I have faith in you, it'll be fine in the end even if it doesn't feel like that now. Good luck sorting out the muddle!

Yay for word-making walks! It sounds like you're making a point of doing good things for your health and general well-being lately, and that's fantastic! Go you! :-)

It was another brutally hot day in my classroom today, but I made a point of going to one of the newer, air-conditioned buildings on our campus when I didn't have to be in my classroom. This helped. Tomorrow, it's supposed to be cooler, thank gods. I'm not sure I could have taken another hot and humid day like today. *sighs*

I wrote 763 more words on the story tonight, though, and I'm happy about that, for sure. :-)

I am so excited for Season 11!!!! Finally a date!

Walks often activate my creative brain. Not all ideas that come to me during a stroll through he park make it into story from, but it always helps to have plot ideas at my fingertips.

I finished my remix story and edited a bit on fic that returned from beta.

I'm really looking forward to the new Doctor Who!

Walks are definitely good for my creativity. Often when I'm working on a longer idea, a novel draft or something, I'll frequently "take it out for a walk" and let the plot and character details has themselves out in my mind as I walk. And often I get ideas - like you said, they're not necessarily all going to lead into stories, but it's still a good source for ideas.

I did better yesterday, working on a few drabbles as well as the nonfiction project. Drabbles are funny word-count-wise, since I generally start with at least twice as many words as I need, and so end up with deleting as many as I've written! (Wait, that doesn't make sense 8-) Anyway. You know what I mean.)

And! I passed a milestone! I'm also signed with with getyourwordsout, which this year added a "habit challenge" -- number of days written rather than word count. I chose the the Journeyman challenge, to write 240 days. Well, the last check in, I had written 243 days. The mods sent me a congratulatory message and invited me to try for the Master challenge: 350 days.

Of course I made this goal because of this group. 8-) So thanks to everyone here!

And the Master challenge goal, hah. piece of cake. 8-)

Yay for managing some fiction as well, with the drabbles! I haven't really tried drabbles, because the thought of such a small word count is a bit intimidating for me, but I bet it would go the same way for me, paring the first draft down to reach the word count.
