Write Every Day, August Day #7

I went out for a walk tonight to see the partial lunar eclipse. It was hard to find a spot where I could see it, because the Moon is still really low on the sky in Finland now, and there were some clouds as well. But finally it rose high enough that I could see the latter part of the partial eclipse. It was beautiful, and I feel awed when I can see astronomical events occurring in front of my eyes.

Also, on my way back home I could see Arcturus and Vega shining in the sky. In the Finnish summer it's hard to see any stars because the sky is so light most of the time, so it's lovely to be able to make out some of the brightest ones again.

Otherwise, today has been a tired and quiet day, though mainly good. I returned from the family visit I've been on for the past couple of days, and have mainly been binge-reading Daughter of Mystery, which I find fascinating. I've slept poorly the past few nights, so I wasn't trying hard to do anything more active.

Writing

I got about 300 words written, mainly on my rarepairfest fic and a little bit on the original project. The fic seems to be one of these stories that just grow longer and longer, I hope it finishes at some point, too!

The lunar eclipse sounds lovely, as does your night-time walk. I need to do more of that. *sighs* Good for you for making time to write despite being understandably exhausted. I hope you feel better rested soon. :-)

I wrote about 360 words on the Tony/Steve story, which isn’t as much as I’d hoped but does include a vital bridge scene that I’d been struggling with/avoiding, so I’m pretty pleased with having done that much.

That sounds like good progress! Sometimes it isn't how much you write, it's what you write, and getting an important scene done can matter more than a big word count. Well done!

I thought I'd managed to miss the eclipse, but apparently it wasn't even visible in London. :(

I went out to see a fun play (the RSC's somewhat high-tech The Tempest), and so only managed an alibi sentence and a bit of outlining for a future project.

Yeah, probably it wasn't visible, it was so early that the Moon probably wasn't up yet. I'm far enough to the east compared to you that the Moon had risen, though only just.

On theatre evenings it can be hard to get more than an alibi sentence out, so that's good!
