Write Every Day: Day #5
Dec. 5th, 2016 07:28 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Family visiting for a couple of days now, but I brought my laptop with me, so no delays to posting. Winter (ie. snow) happened all of a sudden yesterday, but today the weather's been kind of awful, with hard cold winds and very slippery roads. Would be perfect for staying inside and writing, if my brain was a little less tired...
Today's writing
The neverending saga of my Yuletide fic continues. I wrote a few hundred words more, mostly a new beginning, which I think makes the story better but also requires more edits than I realised. I do wonder if this will ever be done. After a while I gave up and started reading a history book / biography that might serve as research for my novel-in-planning if you squint and look hard. I might see about trying something else yet, because I have the time, but I'm not sure what.Maybe another fic, maybe a little novel planning - I've got a writing exercise to do for writing class which could serve for that. ETA: Ended up being a bit more on the fic I began a couple of nights ago.
How about you all?

Date: 2016-12-05 06:58 pm (UTC)No new words, but I got a couple of Yule treats outlined (one of which currently says, "Boxing Day OT3"! but, uh, that totally counts as an outline?).

Date: 2016-12-06 12:21 am (UTC)I hope that Yuletide fic of yours behaves soon! I've found reading very helpful when I'm stuck no matter where or with what in writing; for me, it works best if it's something entirely else, which just gives me new ideas, new emotions or practical ideas, depending on what I'm stuck or struggle with.
For me, again a day with just about 200 token words, as I was too busy to find any leisure. But without this challenge, I wouldn't have written anything at all, or sat down with my story, and having done so brought it onwards even if just a tiny bit. It feels good, if nothing else! :o)

Date: 2016-12-06 01:54 pm (UTC)It's true, reading something entirely different often helps get your mind out of a corner.
I'm glad the challenge is helping you to get some writing done even on a busy day! Even if you write just a little bit each day, it's more than nothing and helps bring the story onward, and makes it easier to write once you have more time for it. :-)

Date: 2016-12-07 09:40 am (UTC)This is definitely true! I didn't realise before what a difference it makes to keep in touch with a story in this way. :D

Date: 2016-12-06 06:08 am (UTC)I wrote 500 words today, all of it for a blog post in a major review blog for my release at the end of the week. Feels cheaty but the business end of the publication game takes up a lot of time.
