Write Every Day - April Day #14

The muscles in my neck, shoulders and upper back have been so sore today after yesterday's massage. It happens sometimes when you really needed the massage, the muscles get sore the next day. I just wasn't expecting it now, I didn't realize they'd been so tight. Hopefully tomorrow they'll feel better.

I was so heroic today and went downtown and shopped for clothes. Trust me, that's heroic for me, especially on a Saturday. I hate clothes shopping. I like having nice clothes when I manage that, but going through the selection and trying a hundred things on before finding something that's right, and the lights and the noise of the shop... It's just so much. But at least I like some of the fashions available this spring - it's worse when you can't find anything wearable. I did find most of what I was looking for, at least. Spent the early evening being quite drained. Didn't have nearly as much writing energy as I'd have wished. But I did let myself watch a Miss Fisher episode.

Today's Writing

I was working on the novel again, but didn't get the four-digit counts I'd been hoping for. A little under 500 words on the draft, plus some notes, fleshing out a side character.

I'm having lots of fun with Main Character 2's scenes and viewpoint. The voices and such come out so nicely. Of course it's still a very rough draft, but at least the feeling's right, you know?

Ouch, that sounds uncomfortable! I hope you're better by now. I've always been told that when a massage causes muscle ache or soreness, it's been too hard/intense, and that this should be avoided... the dowside is that if done in that way, it can take quite some time until there's any relief.
Yay for going clothes shopping! I can totally relate to your reluctance to do so, I avoid it myself as much as possible. I'm quite grateful that I can order most clothes, because the ones of my favourite brands wouldn't be available even in next larger town anyway.
Not much actual writing for me yesterday, about 100 words all in all for the drawer novel and the fanfic WIP, plus quite some time plotting while doing other things. We were busy cementing in metal fastenings for fence posts, trimming trees and doing other spring-related stuff in- and outside the house, and went to a beautiful concert in the evening. While listening some idea popped up, and I spent most of the concert plotting it into the story.

Thanks, it has been better today, not really hurting any more. Hmm, I've been told it can happen when muscles have been very tight and the massage has worked on them a lot. It didn't really hurt (not meaningfully, anyway) when she was doing it, so I think it was okay. She's very professional. But it had been too long since I'd had a massage, and the muscles had knotted up more than I realized.

I need to start ordering online, too, because otherwise I can go for months when I should be buying more clothes. You just need to know brands and models that will likely fit you, so you don't have to order twenty things and return nineteen... I'm hoping to locate some that I can just order online in the future, though.

Sounds like you had a busy day, but yay for writing a bit nevertheless! And I love it when another art sparks ideas for your writing! It can happen to me, too. Music is particularly good at that, I find. :-)
