Write Every Day, September Day #7

I've been pretty lazy all day today, but at least I'm starting to feel a lot better compared to yesterday. And I did at least get a bit of cleaning done, which hasn't happened in a while, and took out the glass and the metal to the appropriate recycling bins (they're a bit farther away than the rest of the recycling bins), and I managed to work out a bit in the evening. I fell asleep at some point, so my evening schedule got all wonky, though. But I watched the last two episodes of Doctor Who: The Ice Warriors (a 6-part serial from 1967, from Troughton's second season). Oh, it's good stuff, I loved it.


Today's Writing

I got a new idea for one of the original stories I've got stewing in my brain, and wrote that down, as well as some character description and backstory for the same. I'm glad to have gotten started working on that one again, it got stalled for a while, but it would be a shame to let go of it because I really like it. I also wrote a bit more on one of the fics I was working on yesterday (the less angsty one).

Yay for getting started! I haven't yet dared to look at all the prompts I might want to write a treat for - I should start canon review for my assignment so I have time to write it. Though of course while I'm doing the reviewing, I could probably write a treat...

I had so many prompts I could have written for last year, and I had a blast even though I didn't finish any of the treats I started. (I'll finish those fics eventually! Some day! But the writing was fun in itself.) This year I really only have one treat I can write, unless I go for original fic. I'm almost disappointed. *g*

It's true, the writing is fun - and it may always be possible to use it later, like for Fandom Stocking or Chocolate Box. I should go through the prompts, since it's anyway going to be a while before I can start on the assignment in earnest (I have a rough idea for what to do, but I need the canon review to get the voices right, to get details, etc.).

I'm glad this day has been gentler on you. I'm also glad you're happy about returning to a stalled project. I have one of my own I have to get on soonish. :-)

I wrote 251 on the story. I had a school function, so I just stayed there to grade papers until the function, and I got home from that only a little while ago. I'm beat but happy that I don't have to get up tomorrow. Yay!

It's one I want to see more of. SO tired of dystopias. I'm writing this one for Less than Three's open call.

I'm so with you on being tired of dystopias. Yes, there are problems, but I get enough of all the "the world as we know it will be transformed into hell" just by looking at the news, I don't need it in fiction as well. I want to see hope for how the problems can be grappled with it and some celebration of all the good that can be done, too. I only recently was introduced to the idea when I learned that Becky Chambers will be writing solarpunk novellas for Tor, but I immediately got interested.

I'm glad you're feeling better and working on a WIP that's been stalled -- and on less angsty fic! 8-)

I worked on the nonfiction project in the afternoon, making good progress, even though I didn't have as much time as I'd have liked to, having worked on my mom's yard in the morning. Then late in the evening I wrote a drabble - I'm doing these little Highlander/Fairy tale crossovers. If you can call something as short as a drabble a crossover. But anyway! I meant to do one or two more, but fell asleep. Sheesh.

Glad you were able to make good progress despite being busy with other things as well, and got a bit of fiction done as well. Crossovers with fairy tales are fascinating. :-)

A bit over 1k for me yesterday, although most of this was meta, with a bit of drawer fic thrown in. I also got my second story back from the beta, but was too tired to do more than just look at what's necessary to do. (Not much, thankfully.)

Meta is sometimes important, too, so sounds like you got in a good amount of writing. Good luck at polishing your story that you got back from beta, glad you don't need to do much on it anymore. :-)

Ahhhhh, I keep forgetting to check in! I wrote about 900 words of script on Day 5, wrote up a fic rec for tardis_library yesterday (that was far longer than it had any right to be, ugh), and today I've been working on putting together a Tumblr ask blog. A lot of coding was involved. That counts as writing, right?
