Write Every Day, August Day #27

shopfront has volunteered to host the challenge in September. She only has a journal on Dreamwidth, but people who only have LJ and not DW are welcome to participate with anon/openID comments. Is that okay for everyone, or should we try to find someone who crossposts to both sites?

In other news, today has been another one of those very lazy and tired Sundays when I scarcely have the energy to do anything. Of course I activated only towards the late evening and now can't get to bed early... Such is the way of Sundays around here. I did much enjoy reading Juliet Marillier's Shadowfell, though, which I've almost finished. Also, it's beginning to be autumn here, and the nights are getting dark again. It always surprises me at this time of the year, the getting dark thing. It hasn't happened for a few months.

Writing

I finally finished my Femslash Exchange letter - that'll teach me to request so many pairings! But maybe I'll be able to reuse parts of the letter for Public Call and Yuletide sign-ups. I also did some contemplative/journalling kind of writing. These will have to do, because while I wanted to do some fiction writing, I never seemed to find the energy, and now it's late so I probably won't.

Lol about the getting dark thing. :D I notice it's getting dark much earlier again here, too. *sigh* I love summer. I don't want it to be over. At least it's still almost 30 degrees during the day, which is awesome.

I slept really badly last night and didn't think today could be productive at all. Strangely, I woke up after all in the afternoon and managed to sit down with my story for an hour. I added over 400 words, which is the second largest I have added to it in one sitting, bringing it to 1700 words. Yay! I still have no idea what the dialogue should be, but I skipped it and did some character description. It's always good when something finally flows again. I will figure out the dialogue later. I hope. :)

I'm rather fond of autumn, really, and I love to stargaze, which is hard in the summer because it doesn't really get dark here. So I'm welcoming the season change. I'm glad it's not almost 30 degrees here, I'm so bad at temperatures over 25°C... (Unless it's a sauna, in which case about 80°C is preferable. Oh dear, I'm sounding like a 'You know you're Finnish when..." list now.)

Glad you had a productive day even though you thought it wouldn't be! Love it when that happens. Shows how hard it is to predict. It's weird, sometimes sleeping poorly means you can hardly string a sentence together, and sometimes it doesn't trouble your creativity or maybe even loosens inhibitions or something.

My partner just said literally almost the same thing about the dark, it came on kind of slowly and then all at once didn't it! Which I'm sure it probably does every year, but we hadn't been here long enough to get used to long days yet last year, so it feels super new still.

Put together my full zero-draft for my auexchange fic today, yay. That was the last delayed-by-computer-crash thing with a deadline that I needed to start, so I'm ahead for today but behind for the week but at least getting back on track. Also good on you finishing the letter, they're always such bigger chores than I expect. It took me days and days to finish hammering out mine. I have just (wisely I think) made my Yuletide decisions in advance by very deliberately using my rarepair and fandomgrowth sign ups as most of them because I have had it up to here with letters, and thus I just need to copy paste and do some light editing to be done with the darn thing.

In Finland, you get a few months when it hardly gets dark at all or only does so around midnight This season the day/night ratio is changing pretty rapidly and it's the first time since April or thereabouts since it's been dark already after 9 pm, so it feels really surprising. Suddenly I have to think about whether I my bike has lights or if my coat has reflectors, and I've forgotten how to do so in between...

Glad you got your draft together and are getting back on track with your stories that have deadlines!

I really think my Yuletide's going to be a mixture of my Rare Pairs and Femslash Exchange sign-ups, and Public Call will be a mix up of my Femslash Exchange Doctor Who requests and I don't know, maybe last year's requests, because I don't want to write another Dear Writer letter for a few months! I like giving my assigned writer enough to work with, but it's hard work to do a good letter. I'd better not get into any new rare fandoms between now and the Yuletide sign-ups...

I actually made great progress on the application, despite having a cold - hopefully I can keep it up over the next few days and meed the deadline. *crosses fingers* ETA: I also edited and posted an old fic I wrote years ago and only recently found again.

Oops, I missed checking in yesterday - a busy but enjoyable day, with the Tate Modern and another play for me, and so only an alibi sentence.

Today I spent three hours in the sun in Regent's Park which did wonders for my mood, and then I managed 1.2k shippy words on my slavefic in my fave little hipster tea place.

And I seemed to miss the fact that you'd missed, so you're on the tally anyway. :-D Well, means I don't have to edit you in. ;-) But sounds like you had a lovely day, both art and theatre, yay! And three hours in a park in good weather sounds like a really wonderful thing.

I managed 188 words on the Steve/Tony fic, though I'm no closer to figuring out the ending. Still, words are words.

DW only wouldn't be a problem for me, although I might check in only occasionally anyway as life is going to be a bit busy in the next weeks. I can host the challenge in October, by the way; I think I already mentioned it somewhere a few months ago.
