Write Every Day, Day #9
Apr. 9th, 2020 11:41 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
It's nearly Easter... Do you folks have time off during Easter? Since I currently make my own schedules, I don't have any particular days off, but I really feel I need more than just the regular two-day weekend I give myself, so I'm probably taking a regular Easter break from Friday to Monday, or at least Friday to Sunday. I've been really tense and tired this week, and I'd better take some time to relax and let go. I hope it also leads to more writing, but if it doesn't, I'll try not to stress myself about it.
Today's Writing
I managed to do my writing in the morning, and ended up with a few handwritten pages of a thing I wasn't planning for, but which started to grow in my mind from a shorter bit I wrote a couple of days ago. Well, it's words, I'm taking it!

Date: 2020-04-09 09:21 pm (UTC)I don't celebrate Easter, so it's just going to be yet another day in this tiring lockdown, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's not going to be extended once more because right after Easter is the only time of the year I buy chocolate. I don't like it much and only eat very rarely, so stocking up once a year when the Easter leftovers go on sale it's the best and lasts me until the following year!
no subject
Date: 2020-04-10 05:46 pm (UTC)I don't celebrate Easter as such, either - I'm not Christian so it's not my festival. My family's only ever celebrated it in the heathen way we celebrate these holidays, making those traditional foods we like and so forth. Honestly our Easter celebrations have probably all been based on the Pagan rather than Christian traditions. (Not that we're Pagan either - well, I swing that way a bit, but I'm agnostic mostly - but there still are a lot of those traditions around.) Though this year I'm doing even less because, well, circumstances. But it's a statutory holiday over here, so the kind of desk jobs I've had have always had the Friday and the Monday off, so I'm accustomed to having a break at whenever Easter happens. But yeah, I don't really celebrate, which is why I had to spend some time thinking about whether I was taking these days off or not.
Well, that was a bit of a tangent, sorry!
I wish I didn't like chocolate much! Would make healthy eating easier, heh. Though I'm not really into most chocolates that are particular to Easter and likely to be on sale afterwards, so it doesn't cause a particular chocolate stock-up for me. At least it hasn't usually... we'll see what happens this year.

April 9th - 983 words. Another 500 word challenge ficlet that I'm very happy with, some work on the fic I started yesterday, and a bit of editing on something before posting. Now I'm too sleepy to do anything else.

One more scene that needs finishing and then I will switch POVs and start the same day over again. The other POV needs more fixing, but once I get going with hers I tend to write her in longer bursts so I might get a longer daily wordcount going in the next few days. Fingers crossed, anyway.

However, since the shop is closed due to shelter in place, it doesn't matter. We've been working in the (closed) shop and at home (listing books online, going through boxes in the garage, etc.) and our hours are, how do you say, flexible. ;-)
Anyway, your taking a long weekend is an excellent idea.

Date: 2020-04-10 07:29 pm (UTC)And getting days off by default is great, too, and flexible hours. I can imagine there's a lot of work done even when the doors are closed. When our libraries were about to be closed for the current situation, I heard a librarian say they were going to do inventory during the weeks when they're closed, and a bookshop is bound to have a lot of that sort of thing as well.
