Write Every Day, June Day #29

Happy Pride, everyone! There was a big Pride parade here today, and I mean big. I just read in the online news that about 100,000 people attended. *mind boggles* I didn't know there were 100,000 people in Finland capable of being in a same place together. I mean, I though the Pride was big when there were 25,000 people in it, and wasn't that just a couple of years ago? Political protests and such here are usually a few thousand people if it does well. This is not a nation that goes out in big crowds. I don't think I've ever heard of anything in my lifetime involving 100,000 people getting out on the streets for some purpose.

So, yeah, it's pretty darn awesome that it's become so big and popular. Though for the same reason I'm glad I didn't go, as I tend to find already those few-thousand-people strong parades/protests overwhelming. But I did Pride in my own way: I went on a queer-themed guided tour to the exhibition on 1920s Helsinki in the city museum (very interesting! I'll have to go back for a general visit to the exhibition, too, I want to know more about the era here). After that I stopped by in the Central Library and picked up a few books from their LGBTQ+ rec table. Because I totally needed to borrow even more books, obviously. And I've been working on queer fiction today and reading some queer things. And seen lots of people with rainbow things when I did go to the centre.

Today's Writing

I geeked out over novel research again, making notes and finding sources. Then in the evening I worked on my Cottoncandy Bingo fics; I wrote enough of one I'd started that I might conceivably finish it before the month ends. I also did the final edits to the one I've actually finished. I posted it as a draft on AO3, but I'll check it one more time tomorrow before I publish it.

I don't think I'm very likely to make a bingo unless I come up with some very short fics for the remaining squares, but who knows! I've enjoyed writing the stories, which is the main thing - hope I still manage to finish and publish more than the one, whether it's in June or later. I do have ideas for very short fillets, and I'd love to continue writing, but I'm just getting way too sleepy for tonight!

Ow, better not strain your wrist too much! I heard if you hurt it too badly, it can take really long to recover. Definitely better to just write something little with that going on.

I think I need to find my goddamn fucking wrist braces—assuming I had the sense to bring the least ratty pair, instead of abandoning the lot on the other coast; if not I need to go to the pharmacy and get a new pair of goddamn fucking wrist braces—and remember how to do shit while wearing them. because half my problem right this minute is the right wrist bones don't wanna stay put.

…the other half is I can't pay attention to anything right now that doesn't involve reading text words, which requires scrolling, or writing text words, which technically doesn't require typing but I haven't used Dragon in months either and I do not want to deal.
