Write Every Day, June Day #23

Today included a shared effort with my mother to bake a strawberry pie, which turned out delicious.

It was a cooler and windier today than was predicted earlier, so I didn't end up going swimming, as I'd planned. Made it a nice day to be out, though, since it wasn't too hot. It's been nice enough here, although I confess I'm getting a bit ready to return home. Which is why it's good I'm doing so tomorrow.

Today's Writing

I wrote a bit more for the possible who_contest entry, though I didn't progress a lot. So I guess I'm only entering if there's an extension, since the current deadline is tomorrow. There's only been one entry so far, however, so an extension might be needed anyway.

I spent some more time doing research reading, though I got a bit sick of it and of the time period I'm researching, so I decided to give it a break. Worked on some more fanfic instead - some editing, and started a new fic for the Cottoncandy Bingo, very shippy and sappy and... cotton candy, I guess. I did end up with over 800 new words, so looks like it was a productive day in the end.

I looked at it but there aren't a lot of boxes so far I could conceivably write anything for. Will keep an eye out for it, though. Glad you managed to write a fill already! And hey, at least it'll be a nice surprise when you start getting comments. :-)

also yesterday, added like 1200 words to something I hadn't touched since December. story no longer attempts to either address the shitty behavior of the leads' friends who made the plot start or to have any sexual contact onscreen, but it's done and posted and people like it and I got to take a WIP off my master list

I wrote 879 words on the H50 fic this morning, finishing the first draft at a total of 36813 words. I'll probably start editing tomorrow because I've been doing some editing as I go already, so I don't feel the need to let it breathe for a bit. Mostly, I'm going to line edit and look for continuity errors.

Also, I got to spend time with a friend (and former student) of mine today, which was lovely.

Congratulations for finishing the first draft!!! *fanfare* And that's a veeeery impressive total word count! And great if you feel like you can start editing soon. I tend to need quite a break after finishing something long... Though admittedly it's been long since I last finished anything long!

I finished up a tiny ficlet for a bingo fill. Not that exciting in itself, but it did make for my 21st work to AO3. Which means I now have a second page! Not something I really ever expected to happen when I started writing fic.

Ahaha, the story of so many of my writings. Why is it so hard to get to the point where your story has some actual events and interactions? I don't know.

Anyway, well done on writing both days, even if you didn't get a lot of progress on the 23rd. Sometimes the poking is useful even if much doesn't happen on that day.

I spent too much time working up the cover art paperwork for my publisher. I did however get 1244 words in 40 minutes for Like Stone. That's more like it.
