Write Every Day, June Day #29

Happy Pride, everyone! There was a big Pride parade here today, and I mean big. I just read in the online news that about 100,000 people attended. *mind boggles* I didn't know there were 100,000 people in Finland capable of being in a same place together. I mean, I though the Pride was big when there were 25,000 people in it, and wasn't that just a couple of years ago? Political protests and such here are usually a few thousand people if it does well. This is not a nation that goes out in big crowds. I don't think I've ever heard of anything in my lifetime involving 100,000 people getting out on the streets for some purpose.

So, yeah, it's pretty darn awesome that it's become so big and popular. Though for the same reason I'm glad I didn't go, as I tend to find already those few-thousand-people strong parades/protests overwhelming. But I did Pride in my own way: I went on a queer-themed guided tour to the exhibition on 1920s Helsinki in the city museum (very interesting! I'll have to go back for a general visit to the exhibition, too, I want to know more about the era here). After that I stopped by in the Central Library and picked up a few books from their LGBTQ+ rec table. Because I totally needed to borrow even more books, obviously. And I've been working on queer fiction today and reading some queer things. And seen lots of people with rainbow things when I did go to the centre.

Today's Writing

I geeked out over novel research again, making notes and finding sources. Then in the evening I worked on my Cottoncandy Bingo fics; I wrote enough of one I'd started that I might conceivably finish it before the month ends. I also did the final edits to the one I've actually finished. I posted it as a draft on AO3, but I'll check it one more time tomorrow before I publish it.

I don't think I'm very likely to make a bingo unless I come up with some very short fics for the remaining squares, but who knows! I've enjoyed writing the stories, which is the main thing - hope I still manage to finish and publish more than the one, whether it's in June or later. I do have ideas for very short fillets, and I'd love to continue writing, but I'm just getting way too sleepy for tonight!

Ow, better not strain your wrist too much! I heard if you hurt it too badly, it can take really long to recover. Definitely better to just write something little with that going on.

I think I need to find my goddamn fucking wrist braces—assuming I had the sense to bring the least ratty pair, instead of abandoning the lot on the other coast; if not I need to go to the pharmacy and get a new pair of goddamn fucking wrist braces—and remember how to do shit while wearing them. because half my problem right this minute is the right wrist bones don't wanna stay put.

…the other half is I can't pay attention to anything right now that doesn't involve reading text words, which requires scrolling, or writing text words, which technically doesn't require typing but I haven't used Dragon in months either and I do not want to deal.

That's awesome news about the parade! (Like you, that's way too many people for me, but also like you, I can appreciate the FACT of it without actually experiencing it personally. Yay!)

I wrote 207 words of H50 fanfic that may or may not become a story. Right now, its working title is "Danny's Oral Fixation," which is really all you need to know about the plot-to-porn ratio so far. ;-)

It's really awesome to realize it's such a big deal now. (Now, I just wish it also carried over more to the rest of the year, so that there wouldn't always be the assumption that everyone's straight, cis etc. and that it wasn't still socially okay in many circles to speak stereotypical crap. But I guess the more widespread this becomes, the better the average attitudes will be as well...) But yeah, definitely too big a crowd for me! Like, I can't even imagine what such a crowd is like, because I like I said, Finns don't ever move in such crowds...

Yay for writing! And hee, it's good that you have a clear idea what the story is about. :-D

30th: I wrote about 1300 words and just have one kiss to go. \o/! (And then I get to find out from my beta whether it works at all... because I'm honestly not sure.) Hopefully I'll finish it tomorrow AND write some kind of short flashfic thing because I don't want to break my streak on fan_flashworks, but I have a medical procedure tomorrow morning, so it depends what kind of state I'm in afterwards. *fingers crossed*

I did do a smidgen of writing yesterday, even though most of the day was taken up with being social and getting the house in a fit state for visitors.

There's also a fic that is about to hit 200 kudos, which is way more than any other work I've written, and got them far faster than anything I've done as well. It's a thing to be proud of and a thing for my brain to immediately proclaim well a one-off and will never happen again.
