Write Every Day, June Day #18

Oops, how did it get to be midnight in my time zone already? It's not like I was doing anything useful for the past half an hour... And I wonder why my sleep schedule gets messed up.

Anyway, tonight I went to see a cinema screening of the Royal Opera House's production of the Romeo and Juliet ballet. It was incredibly beautiful. I've seen that ballet a few times in different versions, but this one was by far the most emotional and intense, and the most gorgeous as well. Even though I didn't see it live, only on cinema screen.

It made me feel quite refreshed and renewed, and I also felt more creative afterwards. I do recommend for all writers and other creative types to try to regularly immerse yourself in other forms of art, experiences, etc. It doesn't have to be something expensive like going to the opera (though operas often have cheap seats) - maybe you can just go to a place near you that you haven't visited, to a shop or a market selling interesting items, some free art gallery or concert, try a food you haven't before, something. It can really help in "filling the well" of your creativity, and give you new points of view, so I'd especially recommend if you feel like your creativity is running dry or you're getting stuck.

Today's Writing

I finally got to doing some research reading again - it wasn't a lot, but later in the evening it also inspired a scene/dialogue in my head, and I wrote a part of it in my notebook. I've done this on a few occasions - let's hope that I can later figure out in which notebook(s) I've done it. For all I know, this might be how the novel-writing will get me - suddenly I'll just notice I'm already writing it.

ETA: And 255 words more for one of the Genprompt Bingo fics. I wasn't supposed to write anything anymore, but I looked at it and suddenly there were words coming.

Well done for posting! I know the feeling of tweaking and re-tweaking before finally managing to post it - sometimes it seems like you'll always notice something that still needs to be fixed.

Yes, and once I've fixed more than a few words, I feel like I need to read the whole thing through again to make sure it still works and I haven't introduced inadvertent word repetition or something. ;-)
