I've returned to a more regular daily schedule now, but I still took the opportunity to write after breakfast, before anything else, which was nice. I did some free-writing, which turned into brainstorming for the recent new story project I recently got that idea for; I should probably call it the Other Ambush Project or something until I have a better idea? Anyway, I ended up writing some notes for it on the computer as well. And I wrote a bit of something for Ambush Project Prime.

I meant to get to my bingo card prompts tonight, but it was one of those days when time management didn't work out.

Weather was a bit warmer today so being out in the garden was more enjoyable even though progress isn't very noticeable. Dealing with overgrown shrubs is slow going when one in the tangle has to be handled with care. Can't just pull the other stuff out from around it because I'll knock the new shoots off.

I did a bit of writing before going outside though, and a bit more after coming back in.

April 14th - 800 words, a 500 word ficlet and a couple of 150 word drabbles.

I'm sorry you were suffering from insomnia. Glad you were at least able to use it to write! I always tend to be too tired or anxious during insomnia to think about focusing on writing, so it's good you're able to put your mind into something creative & productive.

Sleeping so much has obviously helped; today I wrote over 1,2k of nonfic and meta - but I wrote, and easily at that. Yay! :o) Glad to hear you had a decent writing day yourself! Doing my writing first thing in the morning is something I'm working towards, too, as I found I tend to not find enough time if I start later, or let other duties eat up my writing time. I couldn't hold that up during the corona-related church website phase in preparation for Easter, but hopefully can go back to it now that the intense time is over.

I'm glad sleeping enough helped you and made it easier for you to write! Sometimes sleep can make all the difference. Hope you're also able to go back to writing in the morning now that things are calming down.

Ugh, I hear you on time management. It wasn't a bad day, but it was somehow busy. *sighs* Anyway, I just finished 676 words on Bond/Q, though I'm pretty sure many of them were unnecessary. I'm having trouble focusing tonight.

Time management is so hard! Sorry you had difficulties with that, too. I maybe would have managed better without a 2-hour online meeting I'd forgotten about, but oh well... But yay for managing to write that much despite the issues! Even if many of them are unnecessary, I find you sometimes have to write unnecessary words so that you can figure out which ones are the necessary ones. At least you're working on your story!

A couple hundred words over lunch. Not on anything that's got a due date (and I really should get back to those soon!), but it was fun to nudge this long-neglected for-fun piece forward a notch.

I admire anyone who can be more productive in the morning than pulling on clothes, eating breakfast and managing not to trip on the way out the door. Mornings are terrible.

Almost three pages longhand re-writing the end of a scene to take out the melodrama but add a wee bit that will be... not important later, but is a small piece of a pattern that will be important later.

Next scene is a relic of the very different original draft of this thing and I originally shoved it in there with a sledgehammer. Now I need to clean up the mess (and take out even *more* melodrama).

For me, I tend to be really drowsy the first 1-1.5 hours and have trouble getting out of bed and getting myself together, but once I've got myself washed and dressed and have had my breakfast and, very importantly, my tea, and start to be properly awake - after that mornings are the most productive time of the day for me. Early-to mid evening is another good one. But currently I'm muchly helped by the fact that I don't actually have a fixed schedule and don't need to be anywhere. I am... in between jobs as they say, or maybe in between careers - a bit of a long-term project. When I was working full-time, it was hard to get in writing on the mornings of work days, because I had to get up earlier than was comfortable for me, and thus didn't really get over the drowsy phase before I had to get out.

That sounds like a productive day of writing - rewriting and adding things that contribute to important things is very good. Good luck with the next scene!

Today I got 1,485 words on a surprise prodigal son comment fic and 111 words editing an original project.

Sorry about that! I seem to be making a lot of these mistakes these days, I really need to get around to updating the tally earlier in the evening so I'm not too sleepy when I do it.

Day 14: 509 words today! Think I'm gonna end up deleting a bunch of these words tomorrow, this scene isn't quite working right, but oh well.

Sometimes you need to first write the words that you will later delete, to get through that part of writing and figure out which words are really needed. I often write knowing that it's probably just a placeholder for what needs to be there, or something I need to write out to have it clearer in my head but that doesn't need to really be there. Here's to hoping you either find it more useful than you thought, or that the right words will come to you at a suitable time!

Day 14 - 500 words in 5 drabbles filling out a row of my genprompt bingo, inspired by answers to a character meme. It wants a tiny amount of tweaking for word count and a read over tomorrow but I’m pretty happy with it.

Twitter is hard for the self-discipline! But that sort of thing happens every now and then to most of us. Yay for getting in the alibi sentence at least, it's still writing!
