Today's Writing

It was a long day, but I had an hour and a half in between to spend quietly at home, so I spent a part of that to draft a possible text for the travel writing exercise I'm doing with my friend. I was handwriting, but it was roughly 150 words, based on how much I tend to write per page in that size notebooks. Though my friend's visit to my city has been postponed, so it's not "due" as soon as it was supposed to be. That means I'll have time to try out a couple of other ideas that came to me after I finished writing this bit, and which might suit the exercise better. It's about the same place - clearly writing something about it jogged new memories and moments to the surface.

Also, today I got an idea for who_contest's current contest, and now in the evening I started writing it. I got 189 words down, and it's not done yet, but hopefully it ensures I won't forget the idea and will finish it.

And now, my friends, I need to drop off into bed. Probably via some bedtime reading to wind down, but anyway. Bed. It's late here (I live in the future for most of you, after all).

You're our very own Doctor, living in the future as you do! *grins* Congrats on both of your bouts of writing today--that's fantastic!

I had a little window of time between the work day ending and my evening work obligation beginning (it's parent open house night), so I went home, ate, got in 385 words on the story, showered, changed, and returned to work. Now, I'm just waiting for the parents to arrive.

That is probably the only way in which I am like the Doctor. *g* And not even that for people living in Australia/New Zealand or other Future Timezones.

(Well, I don't act all that grown-up all the time, I can be a bit weird, I like travelling, I like having friends, I enjoy tea, I adore Jamie McCrimmon and would love a robot dog, and I think the universe is fascinating. I guess that makes it a few more.)

Glad you were able to use your free time between obligations to work more on your story. Hope the evening went fine!

My friend has made it in for mothman festival so I'm expecting very low volume for the next few days. Just alibi sentences tonight

Having a friend around is a very nice reason for not having a lot of writing time, at least! Yay for some sentences anyway. :-)

Just chiming in to say that while we haven't been to the festival, it was a highlight of our "southern tour" in 2008 to go to the museum itself. I hope you and your friend have a great time and that the weather is good for the festival and for you!

It's going to be brutally hot but we should be able to have some fun.

The travel writing exercise sounds interesting!

Me, I did the usual; work on the nonfiction project and more noodling on the creepy book idea. Not sure I really want to do that, but nothing else is holding my interest at the moment, so.

I know the feeling of not necessarily being sure you want to do the thing you're doing, but not having anything better to work on at the moment. Creepy bookshop idea sounds interesting, though, I hope you'll feel more into it again at some point. :-)
