Write Every Day, September Day #12
Sep. 12th, 2018 09:57 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Ooh, Yuletide nominations are open! I'm going to have to start thinking about what I'd like to request and offer for the challenge.
And
public_call nominations will open in a few days, too! It's that season already!
In other news, I might actually have to start wearing a jacket outside. It was a bit chilly today. Especially after the freak shower and huge gusts of wind that met me when I was going home from the library. Amazingly, my umbrella didn't break, but it didn't help a lot against the weather.
I'm totally hopeless with libraries, by the way. I've got so many unread books from the library already, many more that I own, but I'm still totally incapable of going to a library to return books without borrowing new ones. Today I returned three books and borrowed... seven? I don't even know. At least some of them are comics and other quick reads.
Today's Writing
It's been a long day, and I couldn't resist watching another episode of "The Enemy of the World" before I started writing, so I haven't written much. So far I've brainstormed a bit on the travel writing exercise, and I've written a few sentences to the femslash ficlet I started yesterday. I'll see if I manage to do a little more with the travel writing, but I really should go to sleep very soon.

Date: 2018-09-12 10:38 pm (UTC)Today, I wrote 616 on the story. It's at over 13K now, and I really must start thinking about where I want it to end.

Date: 2018-09-13 02:45 pm (UTC)Congrats for still more writing! Whew, that's a lot of words, it's at novelette territory already! Good luck figuring out where it's going and when it's ending. :-)

Date: 2018-09-13 07:35 am (UTC)I noodled more on the creepy bookshop idea -- I think I may have a structure for it, which should help. Words were written, but mostly of the brainstorming variety. I also worked on the nonfiction project, but not much. I was tired from chopping down privet 'volunteers' in my mom's yard. 8-/

Date: 2018-09-13 02:48 pm (UTC)Words of the brainstorming variety are important, too. Which is most of my Finnish (=original work) words the past few months, so yeah. Glad to hear the creepy bookshop idea is finding a structure. :-)

Date: 2018-09-13 03:11 pm (UTC)*lol* I know that so well; it's been like this all the time for me while I still had a library card! I haven't had one for years, first because we lived too far away from a good library to make sense, and at the time I also worked in various bookshops and could borrow tons of sample copies every bookshop always gets AND discovered fanfiction, which severely limited the amount of books I was reading anyway. *g* Sometime later, I started with bookcrossing and collected a lot more books than I read all the time, too. I still have half a bookcase full of unread ones from that time... and although I haven't touched one for years I'm relcutant to pass them on already, because everytime I go through them I remember why I wanted to read them. *g* Of course, the fact that I rarely read printed books these days is a huge contributing factor, also that I didn't get a new library membership for our good local library, too. They do have a lot of digital media these days, but I can't read the ebooks on my kindle, and didn't have a tablet their app (necessary to use the media) works on. Now I have, though, and I'm about to finally get a membership and at least use the digital media. As we're living in a large metropolitan area, all the libraries of the area have joined for the digital media, and I can lend whatever is available in any of these, which is just plain awesome. Of course, this will neither help with working through my unread bookcrossing bookshelf as well as my own unread printed and ebooks... *sigh* but isn't that a delicious "problem" to have? :o)
733 words for me, a bit of drawer fic and a blog entry. I'm unfortunately caught up in some lovely fest reading - unfortunately insofar as it has put my research reading for the big WIP on hold, which I urgently need to change again. Ahem.

Date: 2018-09-13 08:10 pm (UTC)But yeah, too many books is definitely a nicer problem to have than too few books would be!
I'm glad you're enjoying the fest reading, at least! Good luck at getting back to your WIP research, though. But yay for drawer fic and blog entry. :-)
