Write Every Day, September Day #16

Wow, it's the second half of September already!

Earlier this month when we were discussing who will host the following months, I forgot to get around to posting a summary of where we ended up. So I'll do that now. Naturally if anyone's situation changes by the month when they promised to host, just let the rest of us know and we'll work something out. The best way to do that is probably just through the current challenge check-in posts. :-)

But as for now, the plan for the next few months is as follows:

October: navaan
November: brightandravenous
December: shopfront
January: trobadora
February: sylvanwitch and ysilme are planning to create a shared journal for the purpose of hosting the challenge together (not a community, just like a regular user journal like this one, except it's shared by two people so they can also share the hosting with no extra hassle for the other participants), and they could do February. Another month before that may also be possible, if someone has to drop out from hosting or change months.

Does that sound all right for everyone listed, or do any changes need to be made to the plan at this point? I don't remember us ever being sorted out this far in advance during the time I've been doing the challenge... Makes for a change from all those last-few-days-of-the-month frantic scrambles for who will be able to host the next month.

Today's Writing

Today, I wrote a whole lot of original stuff - over 1,000 words in Finnish: a bit of brainstorming, and then nearly 1,000 words on a scene that started out as another scene for my novel, but I'm not sure if it's for that or for something else. It could also be for a wholly different novel or novella in a different genre, or a short story. I guess I'll find out when I keep writing it!

I also started on a story on the femslashficlets current prompt. 255 words there. My most productive day of this month so far!

The future month schedule suits me perfectly, thanks for co-ordinating! Still lost in letter land so tick me off today too however poor a showing of creative words it might be, but my multifandomtrope signup is going to have so many trope tags and oh my gooooood. Half way there, nearly half way there, I can do this. Dammit.

That sounds like a lot of work, and heh, I think I just didn't let myself even consider that exchange because I wouldn't have the brain resources for whatever my sign-up would be. But you can do it! *pom poms* And I hope you'll have fun with the exchange once the letter stress is out of the way!

Today, I wrote 687 words on the never-ending story. I did NOT get thinking time as I'd hoped (I dragged my heels on grading and then dragged myself through that *sighs*), but I'm going to make it a priority for this week. I do need to noodle my way toward an ending one of these days. Lol!

I got in almost 700 words of noodling on the creepy bookshop. Though now I've written it, I'm thinking it might go into the other bookshop novel! Could be an interesting clash of character points of view. As I was typing that sentence, the ending of the thing popped into my mind. Heh!

Like you, I often don't know what a piece of writing is going to be until I keep writing it...

Also worked on the nonfiction project, of course. My problem there is to STOP working on that and do other things.

I heartily support any bookshop novels you may come to create! Bookshops are such wonderful things and deserve all kinds of stories written about them. And that's fantastic about the ending popping into your mind as you were writing the comment - sometimes talking (or typing) about your stories/writing gives you the answers you need, just like that!

And good luck at finding the time to keep writing other things than only the non-fiction project. :-)
