Today's Writing

Today's writing has just been kind of patchwork for me. I wrote down a whole bunch of fic ideas for the prompts from various bingo cards; I added a few sentences to a couple of ficlet drafts for the femslashficlets prompt table, and realized one of those ficlets is actually a complete first draft and put it in the folder for complete drafts. And I started a ficlet for the current weekly prompt, writing 70 words so far. Too sleepy to continue, but it's a start, and I've still got a few days left to finish it, and it probably won't be a long one, even by the standards of that community.

I should probably seek out some betas, since I have ficlets that I could edit and publish soon. Of course, I'm only managing to write in my tiny micro fandoms...

Days 20 to 22: I wrote late at night, in the margins of bits of paper, just enough so I could check in (but I'd already logged off by then).

Day 23: Just wrote an alibi sentence in my notebook. Am hoping to write more later, but my brain seems to have seized up, so we'll see. :-(

Got some writing done on paper! I have to seriously use up some of the ridiculous amount of notebooks I have accumulated, so I'm using it as an excuse to write things just for me.

Yay! Paper-writing high five! I find writing on notebooks to be a really excellent way of brainstorming, writing down ideas and thoughts and feelings, trying out stuff etc. And honestly I often seem to even write better first draft on notebooks, but that is a bit of a chore to type up... Anyway, I always seem to collect lovely notebooks, too! I'm pretty good at finding uses for them...

Another hot day in the garden but I wore my hat. I've discovered curious holes under the ivy, although I don't know if they're in use...

April 23rd - 1022 words; two versions of a ficlet - a 500 word one for a challenge community and a longer version for my journal - plus a drabble and some editing.

Definitely, but not foxes or badgers, the holes are too small. One is about 4 inches across, the other maybe an inch and I think it connects to the bigger hole which goes down about 5 inches and then turns left, but I'm not certain. It's most mysterious. There's another small hole a couple of yards away that I saw a bumble bee go down, but I can't imagine bees are responsible for the big hole, and I have no idea what creature might have dug it. I don't even know if it's in use.

A few words so far and a lot of fretting and rearranging story notes. I've got chapter-specific content notes on the first two chapters now, so I could click post on both of those right now. If I chose. (It would kind of have to be both; ch 1, for reasons, is teeny.)

I can imagine that posting a long multi-chapter fic is quite a process! I haven't actually done so, all my published fics have been short. Best of luck getting all the notes and such sorted out and also starting to post!

It sounds like a productive day, even if sleepiness had its way with you. (I can definitely relate!)

I added 522 to Bond/Q, but it was a bridge scene, so that's good news because it left me in a great spot for tomorrow's writing. I may finish this story over the weekend.

There weren't that many new words, really, but there was plenty of brainstorming, so that was nice.

That all sounds very productive, go you!

I got about 1 3/4 pages longhand of a conversation that I thought was between one of my protagonists and one character but by the end of it I think I maybe need to rewrite it to be with a different character. Or rewrite it completely, idk. I had a thought and had to get it out in fictional form instead of notes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hee, it didn't feel that productive as I kept searching for something I'd be able to write for more than a handful of sentences, but with all the brainstorming it does add up. :-)

Sometimes we need to write some things whether or not we can use them in the form we originally thought, and that's fine. Maybe you'll find it works for a different character, or you can do something else with it - and we always learn something from the writing we do, anyway. Good luck figuring out what you're going to do with the conversation! :-)

I was mostly cleaning and baking today and then sat down and wrote 1582 words of a completely unplanned story that came to me in the shower. Thanks brain.

Showers are magic places, I don't know how so many stories are born there. Brains are weird. But it's great when inspiration strikes you, even if it's not something you planned...

Day 23 - 100 more words on the thing I started yesterday. No idea where it's going, or even if I like it. But, words. Insufficient brain to work on anything else.

I know the feeling of insufficient brain, and words are words! And even if it happens that you end up not being able to figure out what to use it for, you still learn from the writing.

My alibi sentence on the 22nd turned into a bit over 500 words of fic, ^^, but yesterday I managed only a true alibi sentence, if otherwise over 1k of nonfic.

Hee, I love it when alibi sentences do that! And it's also all right if on some days it's just an alibi sentence. It's still writing! As is the nonfiction, of course. :-)
