Write Every Day, June Day #25

I'm having a bit of a bad brain chemistry day and sleep deprivation and my brain just won't function anymore, so I'm going to reply to the rest of the comments tomorrow, when I've hopefully had sleep. Sorry, those I didn't yet reply to. Nothing particularly alarming, just tiredness, overwhelm, something being out of whack and headspace not feeling up for things. Hopefully I managed to update the tally right, anyway.

Today's Writing

Nothing really worked on the writing front either - I poked at a few fanfic WIPs with no success, just a few words; then I poked at my novel outlining, but I didn't add very many words there, either. I did manage to write some things in the location sheet for an important location, which is good.

Also, I signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo, hoping it'll kickstart my novel writing, so I guess that means I'm officially setting myself July 1 as the starting date. I mean, if starting really on that day doesn't work out for any reason, I'll start later that week, but I'm basically not allowing myself to dwell on my research material forever. I know I'm approaching the point where I just need to start writing.

Some days are like that, re. writing, aren't they? I've had a few days like that recently where my brain hasn't been able to settle on one WIP and has just been poking around with absolutely no focus - I feel like I'm putting off working on my novel but want to feel like I'm doing 'something.' It's wonderful to feel that passion; less wonderful when your brain hits a slump. I can't say I've contributed much this week personally.

I'm sorry about the brain chemistry. It was my birthday a couple of days ago and I wanted to start off being 29 as a glorious fangirling li'l thornback but my mental health kicked off the next day prompted by something small and silly that just kicked me over the edge and gave me a bad half-hour (that, and I was hungry). I felt overwhelmed and like I couldn't do any of the stuff I needed to do and just wanted to be left alone. It's so frustrating because you feel so powerless and so distant from everyone trying to get through to you and you can't quite figure out why this is happening all of a sudden. Hope you're feeling better in yourself. <3

Yeah, some days are like that. Sometimes I then end up writing something completely different, but yesterday I didn't really have the energy.

Sorry you've had mental health struggles as well. When your resources are low, it can easily be just a small silly thing that takes you over the edge. It gets better when I remember that this is my brain/body's (because our brains are part of our bodies and who knows what causes what) ways of telling us that something's off and we need to take care of ourselves, and if I then manage to ask myself what's wrong and what I need. Usually I know the answer when I spend a while listening, though dodging the negative self-talk has taken some practice. Hope you feel better soon. ♥
