Thank goodness it's Friday... I'm in need of my weekend rest. This week has somehow felt a lot longer than it is, and I feel like I've done a lot more than I really have. But the things I've been doing have been things that exhaust me easily, so I guess it's that. No particularly interesting writerly commentary tonight, am too tired...

I tried to work on fics, but I only managed a couple of short sentences. Then I freewrote by hand, first just general what's-on-my-mind freewriting, then some thoughts about what I'd like to do with the novel. I was thinking of doing a bit of sort-of-research reading, but not tonight, I don't think..

Yay, I'm done with this section! \o/

This is only the first part of something which will be at least 50,000 words when it's done, if not longer--that is, if I actually manage to make the plot work in the later parts. Also wrote 800 words of outline, in preparation for sending this section off to beta.

Wow, congrats on being done with the first section! And sounds like you're in for a long one. I've never yet had the courage to start a novel-length fanfic - I guess I've got too much going on with the novel-length novels I'm already working on with my orig stuff -, but I love reading good ones in my fandoms when I find them. Good luck with the story!

I've now discovered that when I'm posting to LJ my cuts mysteriously disappear and I have to go back and edit everything I post just to hide the body of each story so I don't clutter up my friends' reading pages with long posts. *rolls eyes*

I did get some time out in the garden which is good because the next couple of weeks look to be rainy. No doubt that will make everything I've cleared start growing back... Fitted some writing in both before and after my time outside though.

April 24th - 1091 words. I got a challenge ficlet written and posted, and did some editing on a couple of other things, one of which still needs more work.

Well done for finishing another story! It's great you've been able to get in both gardening time and writing time.

It really is, and I have no idea why. It was fine, and then suddenly it wasn't. =/

Thank you. I've been very productive, but it's been hard work and I'm shattered. It might be raining most of next week which will give me a chance to rest a bit. I could use it!

comparing draft versions to make sure I didn't make any changes in the Google Doc that aren't also in the AO3 draft. also, added most of the content notes silveradept suggested, and while I'm leaving it Choose Not To Warn so that whether the tagged Character Death rates the Major Character Death warning remains ambiguous as long as possible, they mentioned wanting a Graphic Depictions of Violence warning often enough I'm adding that. probably also gonna add the Unreliable Narrator tag but that's slightly more shenanigans (read: I think I have to edit to delete all the tags I've got after the point in the tag wall at which I want to put that tag, save, and edit to add all those tags) so I haven't entirely decided.

and! wrote a couple hundred words and have almost got all the placeholders out of this scene! (or, well. technically this scene is now placeholder-free, but the word I put in in place of the two "this is absolutely the wrong word" placeholders is…also the wrong word. the important placeholder is dealt with, anyway.)

Sounds like you did a lot of the work needed for posting the story, so well done on that as well as writing new stuff! Yay getting almost all the placeholders out! :-)

I finished and posted a movie review today, so that's something I guess. Progress is dragging on my WIP though; I can only scrape a couple hundred words at a time, if that. Still better than nothing.

This week has been weird. Some days flew, some lasted FOREVER, and I am also VERY glad to finally be on Weekend Time.

A lot of people are finding it hard to focus on writing these days, so even small amounts of writing at a time are victory, I say! And yay for writing and posting the movie review, as well.

This *HAS* felt like a long week. I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling that way. And I've been extra tired all week, too, though for me, I think it's because I developed bad sleeping habits while on my spring break, and now I'm paying the adjustment price for going back to working hours. *sighs*

Anyway, I hope you find more energy and pep tomorrow. :-)

Time has been so weird in 2020 anyway. February was at least half a year ago, I swear. And anyway everyone's like 'sheesh, 2020, what a year" and we're not even done with April yet.

I feel for you about adjusting to work schedules. I've been let on loose for so long that when/if I get back to a regular word schedule that I can't set myself, I'm going to have sooo much trouble.

Apr 24: A longhand page at lunch. Transcription + editing after work. And after I checked in yesterday I transcribed + edited several days worth of longhand from earlier in the week (if we want to count check-in-to-check-in, as opposed to midnight-to-midnight.)

Glad you've been able to do so much transcription and editing in addition to writing longhand, that's excellent! And how you count your writing days is however you like; I tend to just go with "if I haven't gone to sleep yet, it's not the next day". :-)

Day 24: just 408 words on one fic today! The weather turned hot today and it really sapped my motivation. I mostly just lazed around in the heat and did WFH stuff.

408 words is still plenty, and you've been quite productive lately. And heat tends to really sap my energy so I feel for you. Fortunately in my country we aren't there yet...

Day 24 - wrote and posted a completely different drabble for fan flashworks, one I am much happier with than the previous thing. But as you say, any words are useful somehow.

Yay for getting a new drabble that you were happier with! But sometimes we first need to write the thing we're not so happy with, before we find out the thing we're going to write. It frequently goes that way for me, at least.

Yesterday just flew by without me noticing the time.... I was baking and pre-cooking food for the weekend and next week (nothing I usually do, but we craved a few time-intense things and I wanted to have the preparation out of the way), then had a new order of wool to go through and got sucked into my daily crocheting again. *g* There was also some more mask-sewing for the family. For the first time since I can remember I actually forgot to put in another writing session in at night, but thankfully I'd written a handful of words already in the morning or I'd missed the day.

Baking and cooking and crocheting are nice things to get sucked into, though, at least for me. But glad you had got some writing done earlier and didn't miss the day's writing.
