In the early part of the day, I added some sentences to yesterday's fanfic, and I typed up more of the novel scene, editing some parts in the process. Now in the evening I did a bit more novel-writing, a little under a page longhand. It feels like I currently often think better with pen in hand.

Thus far I've written another thousand or so words on the exchange fic I started yesterday! (I wrote like 2.5k yesterday? It was delightful.)

I posted the ficlet I finished yesterday, and then wrote 200 words on the next part of my long fic. Not that much, but figuring out where to start the new part also took a little thinking.

Yay posting! And yeah, starting a new part can require quite a bit of thinking, so it's understandable you don't get in that many words. Plus, posting takes some time, too. :-)

Go with whatever works best for you. I use a computer because I can't read my own handwriting. I found some notebooks I used a few years back for jotting notes and I can't make sense of most of what's written =/

Only got an hour and a half outside today but it was enough. It's quite a bit cooler at present with rain forecast for the next few days so I might not get out there again for a while. I got some writing done before and after though.

April 27th - 1237 words, 4 double drabbles and I finished and posted the long version of a ficlet I wrote for a challenge. The challenge had a 500 word limit but I'd expanded the fic by almost another 800 words by the time I was finished with it. I've been working on it for a few days in between other projects.

Yeah, I aim to go for whatever works for me - it's just that it keeps changing. At the moment handwriting seems to work particularly well. But at other times typing is easier, because it's faster and I don't lose track of my thoughts and ideas as much. It varies! My handwriting isn't the greatest, but I've got a lot of experience in reading it. I've always written by hand a lot - I used to be an eager letter-writer, I still keep a paper journal, and I do a lot of brainstorming and freewriting by hand.

Well done for finishing so many different things! And yay for getting in the gardening as well. :-) It's also getting cooler and possibly rainier here.

I'm in awe! I've tried many times to keep a paper journal, but my determination seldom lasts more than a few days. I lose interest, start thinking of all the things I could be doing istead... I'm so easily distracted!

did some betaing on somebody else's Miraculous Ladybug fic, got to the part where he postulates Gorilla prefers not to speak because he has crap for French syntax, contrasted that with my general assumption that Gorilla is unable to speak because disability not otherwise specified, and realized I have some shit for implications in a plot point that's been sitting in the where the firelight fades outline for a couple months. typed all that up for a non-canon-fluent audience at access_fandom to ask if my plot point is salvageable.

Good luck figuring out your plot point, and it's great that you're taking care to not have harmful representation in your fic. ♥ It's sometimes way too easy to not notice those things because of all the stuff we've been fed in media and stories throughout our lives...

As for me, I added 515 words to Bond/Q and am *almost* finished. I'd guess I have fewer than 500 words left, but they just weren't coming tonight.

I believe that china_shop had been considering hosting May once upon a time, with nafs offering as the alternate, but that is based on offers made probably two or three months ago, and obviously, a lot has changed since then, so I don't want to sound like I'm volunteering anyone. I just thought I'd mentioned it based on some conversations had when zwei_hexen last hosted.

Hey someone other than me remembered. I remember mentioning April and another month and I was fairly sure it was May not March. What I *do* remember was about two weeks later going "you moron, you're supposed to spend the first two weeks of April watching All The Hockey, you will not have the brain to do anything else". Current circumstances ended up putting paid to that though.

I think I actually said in like... October? That I'd be okay to host May. I'd be a lowkey sort of host, but I'm happy to host if falkner would rather not, I've been hanging around long enough I should take a turn at some point, eh?

With much scratching out, I managed about a page longhand and then also went through the main document to finally fix a thing where a minor but often-part-of-the-furniture character had two names depending on when I wrote a particular scene. Also decided on a new name for one of the more major supporting characters, but I'm going to sit with it for a few days before I commit to a search and replace.

(One of the three people I sent the first 50 pages to definitely wants to read the next bit so that was also good... how long will it take me to get the next 50 pages into a decent order? er...)

If it looks like nafs is hosting, you can always keep the hosting option in mind for another month when we need a host. I don't remember if anyone's offered for any of the months after May, though I may always have forgotten something, especially with all that's been going on.

Then I shall host. Is there a central repository where people offering to host is generally tracked that I'm missing or is it usually just whoever volunteers at the end of the previous month? Because I seem to recall that when I volunteered it was in the middle of a slew of people volunteering for various months and I wondered if anyone kept track.

There isn't a very organized system around it, at least not one that has come to my attention, though it would be good if there was some place to keep track of who's offered to host when... Especially in cases where people offer a few months in advance!

If there's already people who offered to host, current host can just make a note of it somewhere in their daily posts. Personally, I think that a part of the charm of WED is there's no central community/page, people just keep it going :)

I had no memory about whether someone had offered at some point - which is understandable, I think, seeing as by the 2020 timescale, October was about 500 years ago; but great if you can do it! And low-key hosting is perfectly fine! Some like to do writing-related tidbits in all posts, some just do the essentials, some ramble about RL things, I do a combination of the three depending on my mood and energy and whatnot. It's all good as long as we have a place to check in at! :-)

And yay for more new writing and also for names! I'm so bad at names, yet it's hard to write the first draft if people don't have names, I don't feel I can go on for long just calling them A and B or whatever... But sometimes that means names need to be changed later.

And that's excellent about the person wanting to read the next bit... Good luck with the next 50 pages! You can do it! *waves pom-poms*

Yeah, when my LJ posts stopped crossposting earlier this month (it always happens at some point because LJ codes DW username tags something insanely large; it just depends on how many people are participating), I just put a note in the LJ that if someone does want to check in, they can come into my DW and comment here.

Nobody's been checking in there this month, and I don't think anyone checked in the last time I hosted either, which was some time last summer. Also not all other hosts have had LJs either. I crosspost just because I've still got my settings to crosspost (though I'm thinking about rethinking that, but I've still also got some people who only use LJ and comment regularly...)
