Here's the final check-in post for April, though I'll still post the complete tally tomorrow. But already at this point, thank you very much to everyone who's participated! It's been good to have such a writing community camp at my journal this month. I'm too sleepy to write more right now - I'm posting this later than usual, because I've been distracting myself from the fact that tomorrow's May 1st and, that being a big holiday in Finland, I would normally spend all day hanging out with my friends eating things and chatting and so on, but well, in this situation I will not be. (By distracting myself I mean baking and watching a musical DVD. Just for the record.)

I had got an idea for a scene in the novel and started writing it in my notebook. Got a few pages. I'd have loved to write more, but my eyes have been sore tonight from too much time staring at screens, so I didn't feel it was a good idea to work on anything that needed the computer. But I was happy with the scene idea I had and the progress I made with it, so that's good.

Haven't done anything on the 30th (except one more typo check before posting ch 3, which, I am unwilling to check in for just that), but like, you try to work under these conditions. (she intuited that I was about to go back to work on a sad bit. she has now left but I am now in the wrong mood to work on that bit.)

Ack, you definitely did, I must have got distracted when adding to the tally again. (Not that there's anything external to distract me in these times, but my thoughts aren't the best at being settled down, heh.) Will edit!

Cats do enjoy creating their humans some challenges and dictating when they can work. But I guess you eventually got out from under the kitty since you managed more writing. :-)

Been having computer trouble most of the evening, it's old and cranky. Thankfully I did my writing earlier, so that's not a problem. Just a little bit later on to finish something I started earlier.

April 30th - 1390 words, a 500 word Ficlet, another, longer ficlet that was supposed to be a double drabble but got a bit out of hand, and some editing on something for posting.

It sucks to have to miss so much, doesn't it? Our best friend turned 50 today and it really sucked to not being able to do something real together or so. But we surprised him with driving there (they live about 45min away) and serenading him from the street, and afterwards stood talking with proper distance for about 10min and it was so awesome to see them again, if just from a distance (his wife was my BFF at school), and despite the pouring rain.
I haven't been very productive otherwise; written a couple of hundred words of nonfic and an alibi sentence for my WIP, and am too tired to write more; I'm going to just watch something and sew in loose threads of my Granny Squares for an hour or so more before going to bed.
Thank you already so much for hosting this month! It's been an important part of staying sane in this chaotic time to have the haven of WED to come to every day(ish) and talk about writing, no matter how little! ♥

Aww, that's such a lovely way of celebrating your friend even if you couldn't be together in one place for an extended time. Glad you at least got to see people from a safe distance, even if it rained.

And that's well enough for one day even if you didn't do a lot of writing. Weaving in the loose ends of granny squares is an excellent rest activity; you have to do it at some point, so it's the best done when you don't really have the energy and focus for anything else!

I edited another 15 pages of the Bond/Q story and found two minor plot issues that need to be resolved later in the story. I always like when that happens because it feels like Real Writing to me for some reason.

When you find things during editing that need to be resolved, it likely means your writing has "grown" and the story has grown during the writing. So it sounds promising to me!

Thank you for hosting! I'm sorry that tomorrow's going to be one of the harder days for you, but baking and watching musicals are both excellent distractions.

Wrote two pages longhand, typed up stuff from a previous session, and generally organized myself to work on the next "section" of the novel - identified where the next "show people when I get here" point is and started a document that's just what's been written previously of that part plus all the new bits that probably fit in there. I'm not going to make myself only write things for that section if the muse doesn't want to, but it's good to have a focus.

I agree it's good to have a focus even when you're also being flexible with yourself. That's often the best kind of approach! I should get more organized about my novel myself.
